Why do I need to call out a dead person? I never promoted him when he was alive. Whatever he did that you claim is so horrific (and I've seen most cases debunked already), he's already gone and it's his family left behind to suffer. Doesn't take much human decency to understand that and respect what they're going through.

The fact that you prioritise proving your own viewpoints over respecting basic humanity says everything about you.

This isn't about me. I don't agree with it.

But I can also understand that some people are happy, because Kirk has caused harm to them indirectly.

Understanding something, doesn't mean that I agree with it or think that it's good.

It's not a gray area. Celebrating the death of a non-violent political enemy because you don't like their opinions, is objectively abhorrent. You keep trying to dance around the fact but it's clear as day. If you can't say that it's wrong, you are validating them.

None of the mods are celebrating the death.

I do think it is wrong to celebrate, even if I understand why.

I think if you care about violence, you need to call out all of it. Otherwise you're being intellectually dishonest.

Charlie Kirk celebrated when Nancy Pelosi's husband was put in the hospital, and called the perpetrator a patriot.

Kirk said that children should be watching executions.

i agree with a lot of what youre saying here, but i do think the mods could be much, much worse when it comes to cracking down on views they dont like. i do see a pretty decent attempt at being fair.

all that being said, i have reported many posts that i felt were over the top when it came to celebrating/rejoicing in this murder, and it seems they chose to just lock the thread altogether. which is fine, whatever. i do think that some of those posts were pretty egregious though.

I feel sorry that his kids will grow up without a father, although this is the same father who said if his daughter was raped he would make her have the child still, but nevertheless, kids love their fathers. Having said that, a horrible person having a family doesn't avoid them of any criticism, plenty of horrible people have families. And you may say Kirk hasn't directly hurt someone, it's just words, but that isn't true, Kirk's disgusting rhetoric does hurt people, it does lead to harm, it does lead to suicides, most recently the rampant increase in transphobia in the UK resulting in a trans kid being murdered due to transphobia. Kirk is a bigot, and him being dead doesn't change that, and if people want to talk about that then they're free to do so. Especially when they're directly impacted by Kirk's words.

Celebrating a Death =/= Criticising the Person.

no disrespect to you ryuu, but if any of these things above were said by any user on this site, theyd be summarily banned, probably permanently. id put forth to those of you who feel its fine to disrespectful to him here on this forum after what him and his family just went through is to not stoop down to this level. if you think charlie kirk is pedaling darkness it cannot be fought with more darkness. darkness can only be overcome by light. thats just my two cents. it has been really disheartening for me to see so much of this sentiment everywhere. im not going to argue about any of the things that he said because honestly it doesnt matter and it isnt about that right now. the man bled out from his neck on stage in front of his wife and kids and millions of people. i just feel like people have lost their humanity. thats really what it feels like. i already know what youre going to say, go for it im ready.

I know y'all like to talk about politics here more than games but at least keep it in the politics section which I feel the discussion y'all having fits more there than on this topic...and use this thread to talk about the actual forum issues and to look for solutions to improve the state rather than arguing about a political topic/figure.

People who aren't part of marginalized communities have no idea what its like to have people like Charlie Kirk prodding the masses to direct hatred towards you. We're only supposed to show sympathy after the victims are identified and move on with our lives, never ask how and why it happened in the first place. Sympathy for the dead is easy and clean because the dead can't speak for themselves, and sympathy for the living isn't real according to Charlie Kirk.

Also I agree, this isn't a politics topic, unless we're suggesting politics isn't good for the state of the forum itself. I don't think it needs to be about specific ideologies or events.
