Watched the first and loved it! Can't wait to watch this one.

The comic book industry is actually bigger than its every been... ummmm... sort of.

Revenue from comic books is at a high point, but a lot of that is driven by the increasing popularity of manga which is lumped in. It's hard to really tell how traditional superhero comics are doing. As far as I could tell, that segment is about as big as it has been, but that's again hard to tell because of digital sales and subscription based models.

Just clarifying what I meant by comic books being a relatively small part of it had more to do with the rest of the super hero stuff, particularly the movies, getting so big and less about the comic book industry shrinking.

Anyway, if you're just going based on what people think of the character, you can make a case to put any hero in any spot. Personally, I always found Spider-man more compelling on a moral level. May not be quite as virtuous as Superman, but it feels easier to be perfect and moral when you're basically omnipotent and it's not as much of a struggle to do the right thing. Some writers have found ways around this, but I think that's why both Batman and Spider-man have been more popular.  

I once had a discussion of why I think Spider-man specifically is better than say Superman as a superhero in general. Their simple argument was Superman was the best because he's Superman, god like powers and moral standing apparently. My argument was that Spider-man was the best because he's not as powerful or strong as others his life is worse but does it anyway, the simple logic was lost on them. Can't remember who I was talking with or where.

EDIT: Wait, it was why I liked Marvel vs DC, as DC has gods who fight gods, while Marvel has humans who fight gods or humans who want to be gods.

I saw it the Saturday night before last (basically the day after it opened), holy shit, this movie was incredible. This movie really went the extra mile not only with Miles' story, but the Spider-verse stuff (extra Spider-Men) as well with a nice twist ending to boot. This really felt like it was (almost?) as much Gwen's movie as it was Miles' with all the characterization between the two of them, but it didn't feel bloated at all and there was great chemistry and arcs between the two of them. Only thing I disliked was:

On a slightly-off-topic note, I made sure it and Rise of the Beasts were the June movies that got my money (since I liked Bumblebee and Michael Bay is no longer attached at least as director) while I'll wait 'til it hits streaming for The Flash. I love Michael Keyton as Batman, but I don't want to support Ezra Miller especially with the rumors of WBD wanting him back for the DC(Gunn)U while firing Henry Cavill (I just thought I'd throw that in since Batman and Superman were also mentioned ITT). Luckily it doesn't look like that'll be happening now.
