Forums - Sales Discussion - UK video game market share for 2022

https://eraltd.org/media/72551/2023-era-yrbk.pdf

"The Nintendo Switch remains the UK’s most popular console with around 880k sold over the course of the year, delivering £231.7m through the tills. These numbers are, however, significantly down on 2021 totals: -28% in volume and -24%
in value.
While selling fewer units, Sony’s PS5 generated the highest revenues last year - £350m from 780k units – but, again, this performance was well down on 2021levels, -33% in volume and -31% in value.
After a slow start from its 2020 launch, Microsoft’s Xbox Series console sales finally built some momentum during the latter stages of 2021, with more than £284m spent over the course of the year. Sales declined in 2022 though, with 723k units sold generating £242.5m, 14.6% down year-on-year."

So basically for 2022:

880k for Switch

780k for PS5

723k for Xbox

In total:

PS5- 2.5m
XBS- 1.8m

I'll add the figures too, thanks

Biggest reason why physical games sales were down YoY has to be because it plummeted on Xbox One mainly

Switch Friend Code : 3905-6122-2909

Bigger hardware gap between Switch and PS5 than previously implied.

Xbox's software share even when digital is accounted for wasn't good (significantly worse than 2021). And this year may be worse despite the strong 1st party lineup, because the PS5 is wilding and PC's marketshare is growing as well.
