You know, today's flood of announcements is both incredibly exciting and incredibly infuriating. On the one hand, it's amazing that we're finally getting so many changes and additions that the community has been begging for YEARS, but then on the other hand, that's the problem. It's been YEARS! This entire update proves that Bungie was indeed listening the entire time and was just refusing to give the community what they've been asking for.
Ironically, it coincides with the post I made a couple of days ago about Justin Truman, Bungie's new CEO, speaking at GDC in 2023 with the slide "beware of overdelivering," because that's exactly what Bungie is doing with this update lol. This update alone would've revitalized the Destiny community in a massive way that would've allowed them to continue with their smaller expansions. Missed opportunity yet again.
Oh and apparently, Bungie devs pushed for a "Destiny Infinity," a kind of relaunch of Destiny 2, in place of a proper Destiny 3, which would've been perfect since Marathon 3 was called Marathon Infinity lol. They would've established a new story arc and gone back to major annual expansions. That idea was obviously shelved.
