Sony should have kept PC support exclusive to multiplayer games (day 1), late porting small-ish and 2nd party titles (1-2 years later), and late porting (5 years or more) games with huge potential on PC like Bloodborne. Porting legacy titles would be cool too.
It makes sense that they're finally limiting PC support because all it's doing is make Playstation redundant to a fairly large number of gamers that could only grow larger over time. It's tarnishing the image of Playstation which once upon a time dominated in 3rd party exclusives as well. In some ways, PS2 and PS5 couldn't be more different. The PS1 and PS2 felt like unique worlds.
I think Sony's idea was that by introducing their games to PC gamers, many of them would become new fans and buy a PS5 to play the sequels early rather than wait a couple of years. Surprisingly, the first wave of their major singleplayer games on PC (Horizon, Spider-Man, God of War) sold much better than their sequels. And perhaps they know that the sequels didn't bring as many PC gamers to PS5 as they had hoped. So what they were left with is an impression that "Playstation has no games", which can be disasterous if it snowballs.
Now the challenge is in convincing everyone that their major singleplayer games are genuinely exclusive and that they won't backpedal. They're going to need an entire generation of commitment before most people are convinced lol.
