Just let Destiny 2 die so people can learn how to miss it in the 5+ years Destiny 3 is going to take. Doesn't matter what Bungie does Destiny 2 has no fixing.

True, but at least Bungie isn't going down without a fight lol. Saw some previews for the Renegades expansion, and so far it looks to be fairly solid. The new player activity is straight up Helldivers 2 lol. So one of Bungie's "buying themselves time" initiatives is mixing 2 of the most popular things they could add to Destiny while they try to do what they can in planning more new content in the long term and work on Marathon. Star Wars and Helldivers 2.

Is it a desperation move? Absolutely. But hopefully gets the job done in the short term before Marathon launches.

I just saw the proclamations that they are using AI for this new content and frankly I don't see it. People paying for stuff have the right to complain but the way the internet reacts to EVERYTHING Bungie is doing is just disgustingly toxic. That's why I think the best move is to just let it die.

What "people on the internet who like Sony too much" don't want to see is more MP titles. But that is somewhat irrelevant considering they have like 4-5 MP titles in development, Helldivers 2 continues to exist, and TGA doesn't only cater to this specific crowd.

And after all, Elden Ring Nightreign was announced at TGA last year (also Helldivers 2 won best ongoing game). There is a lot of presedent to use this period to announce a high-budget MP title from a popular IP. As long as they have a good reveal, such as ELNR, there will be no issues.

They are going to be gunning for a PC audience day 1. An SOP will be too small a crowd I feel. Sure, there'll be backlash, but that doesn't immediately translate into a game failing.

I'm really just not sure Sony is willing to announce another AAA game a year after Intergalatic, which happens to have no release date in sight right now. There was Death Stranding in 2022 I believe, then Intergalactic in 2024. 2023 was the Valhalla DLC, and 2021 I don't think they announced anything new.

Of course, I'd personally love to see FireSprite have their game revealed, especially if it's what I hope it will be. That would be nice.

Hate doesn't translate to game failure but also being in TGA doesn't translate to success lol. The hate from people however actually affects the developers, that's why Cory deleted his twitter account and that's basically what I don't want.

If Horizon is a survivor game like I hope it would make sense to target the pc audience because data shows survivors do really good on steam over almost all kind of games but I just don't see a situation where more eyes watching are going to help the initial reception to any reveal of a new service from Sony, for now. The only way the Horizon multiplayer (Marathon and Fairgames too) is going to be successful is if it's good and I have my hopes that it will be so it doesn't matter if it's revealed there or in a SoP. At least in a SoP you have the people interested in Horizon watching and that will be a good start for that game.

I don't think they are going to announce a big game in TGA either, that already happened in September with Wolverine. That's why Tokon in my opinion is the best choice and ironically despite all I just wrote I do think Sony is waiting for the most eyes to show Tokon.

I do think Tokon being there seems likely. But a lot of Tokon marketting has not really made sense based on traditional fighting game marketing cycles.

I think ultimately, what we need are just good showings of games. This was definitely Concord's major issue, and to a degree possibly Fairgames, too.

Media Molecule are looking for a sound designer on a 12month contract ending Jan 2027... Maybe a sign we will finally see their next game.

Dreams really deserved to do amazingly well but it lacked a little bit of gamification. One of the few cases (alongside Japan studios output) where I do wish Playstation put on their commercial hat and helped steer direction.

The problem with Dreams was selling a game creator first and a game second. LBP did well by selling a game with a creator built in.

I hope whatever MM is working on uses an updates version of their Dreams engine, and that Dreams in its entirety still exists behind the hand they're making.

Yeah, it was really impressive but a game needs to be a game first, after you have a compeling game you offer the other things.

Dreams feels like it aimed to be a friendly game dev engine first and game second.

Media Molecule is so talented I hope they have the proper chance on manking a new game, because it would not surprise me if they are the first on the line of potentially closing studios from Sony considering how many years they have been underperforming in game sales. Which would be a huge letdown for Playstation creativity as a whole, specially since we lost Japan Studios.

If Media Molecule is making a service they are the only OG studio that I wouldn't be afraid for because they have been making software platforms the longest, just without monetization.

That's something the Litter Big Planet bros who talk shit about Astro don't get lol, MM moved on from LBP after 2 because the level creator didn't have anything else to give and the level creator was the most important part of LBP, not the actual levels that came inside the game. Dreams was the obvious evolution.

The problem is that they take too long to make their games and they are running out of time. The release of Marathon will be the breaking moment for Bungie (now officially a PS Studio), personally I think the game won't flop but it won't be as successful as Bungie promised, that means layoffs and while Bungie still has 800 people so it would make sense to fire people from there there's always the chance that Sony will fire people from other studios so Bungie can keep as many devs as possible. Media Molecule wasn't really impacted when Sony started cancelling services but they were next in the list when London Studio was closed so the clock is ticking. In the best scenario Marathon finds its miracle and no one need to be fired or Sony is actually loving what MM is making so they fire people from somewhere else lol.

Marathon is going to flop hard, there is no interest in the game anywhere, nothing about it ever made it appeal in an unique way to get people interested.

Destiny 3 better be ready before 2028 because Bungie is headed for disaster.

I don't really like Bungie to tell you the truth.

After the reveal it got 400k+ wishlists on Steam and the number has actually grown little by little with no new anything (other than controversies LOL), the last closed test had 80k players. I'm not saying that is going to be Helldivers 2 all over gain but frankly I can see the game moving more units than what the game that must not be named did lol. There's also the X factor that is the chinese community. Destiny is quite popular in China, the chinese community are leaking the gameplay from the closed tests and some of those videos have millions of views. There's things left to be decided.

Now that doesn't mean that Bungie won't be affected if Marathon doesn't flop next year, either because Marathon won't sell millions over millions or because Destiny 2 is done done before time, the chances of people being fired are very high. If next year Sony decides to fire 200 people from Bungie or maybe even half no one should be surprised, the half left will have to be enough to develop Destiny 3 and the rebuilding will start from there. I don't like to talk like that about layoffs because I like to put developers over everything else included the players but if I was working at Bungie right now after all that has happened I would be ready or getting ready for that day.
