Sony’s Horizon Zero Dawn Movie to Begin Filming in 2026, Targeting 2027 Release

Sony confirms its live-action Horizon Zero Dawn movie has a finished script and plans to start filming in 2026, aiming for a 2027 release, according to a new court filing.

Back in 2022, Sony revealed plans for a Horizon live-action TV show at Netflix, with The Umbrella Academy’s Steve Blackman attached to lead it. That series quietly fell apart in 2024 after misconduct allegations surfaced against its showrunner.

Early this year, in January, during Sony’s CES presentation, the company announced that a Horizon Zero Dawn feature film was in the works with Columbia Pictures, the same studio behind Sony’s Uncharted (2022) and Gran Turismo (2023) adaptations.

2027 should be good for a Horizon movie.
2026 could possibly be Horizon MP, and 2028 could be Horizon 3.

Warner-Discovery is officially on sale. Let the rumors begin lol.

The $1 question is if they want to sell their shit to someone who is going to keep it together (like Redstone wanted for Paramount) or they are open to sell parts of it.

The rumors from mid June were that Sony was looking at buying WB gaming assets and IP's but nothing ever came from it. Paramount/Skydance look to be the front runner for it.  

True and true, there were already rumors about Sony but those rumors were about acquiring assets post Warner-Discovery split set to happen in 2026 (by japanese law Sony can't own news channels and Discovery owns CNN so it's in their best interest to get only Warner) and Skydance is the most active company around the WBD situation so they are front runners. With the public announcement of their intentions about selling they clearly want to start a bid war and that's why there will be rumors about Sony and most likely a concrete offer. There's also a rumor that WBD already shut down a couple of Skydance offers, they want all the money posible and more lol.  

Got to say I'm loving the platforming in GoY.

I think a large part of that is because of the setting. Using the grappling hook in mountains or caves feels so slick.

The game is a joy to play.

I'm currently playing Tsushima expansion on my PS4 and Yotei evolved a LOT from Tsushima pretty much everywhere.

Rumor says Yotei has sold 2.5 million copies and in 3 weeks it already outsold AC Shadows (released 6 months ago, broke records of the franchise on the PS Store) on PS5.
