Forums - Sony - PlayStation Nation |OT| Playing Astro Bot on the Horizon Until Dawn

Between Wolverine, Saros, Tokon, and Marathon, 2026 already feels like a solid year for Sony, probably their best since at least 2022 (Horizon 2, GT7, Ragnarok, TLoU Part 1).

2020 will be hard to beat (Dreams, Ghost of Tsushima, TLoU Part 2, Demon's Souls, Miles Morales, Nioh 2, Sackboy, and Astro's Playroom as a bonus).

I think it tops every PS4 year aside from 2020 TBH.

Gran Turismo 7 will have a Spec III major update in December and the series has now sold over 100M copies.

Spec III will have many 2 new tracks, 8 new cars, collector level max level will be raised, a new opening will be added and more.

Major accomplishment for Sony's oldest tentpole!

Its fitting that Sony's first 100M+ selling franchise was birthed from the original PlayStation.

Finally caught up on the State of Play.

Wolverine is Day One. It looked absolutely glorious with the blood, dismemberment, and the costume! Saros also looks like a major step up graphically from Returnal. I'm still tentative on it but I'm hoping the devs can be a bit more forgiving lol. MSFS is the first Xbox port to be announced at a PlayStation event. I wouldn't be surprised if we get more port reveals like this in the future.

Next year will be great, but the state of play did make me crave for some more varied, alternative output from Sony too.

Media molecule are surely due to reveal their next game but I feel like we need another 2 team Asobi's in Sonys dev catalogue.

I wonder if they will partner again with Emberlabs (Kena )

Insomniac will have released Miles Morales, Rift Apart, Spider-Man 2, Wolverine, and possibly one more game before Naughty Dog made their first current gen game 😆

This is genuinely an insanely incredible run for a modern studio. Their games arguably do lack a bit of artisan magic/creative ambition in favour of more popcorn fun, so I don't need Naughty dog to match their output exactly but they set an example for a what is possible with presumably great management & multi-team studio.

I dream of the days where my favourite studios go back to releasing a new mainline entry every few years. Im really craving FFXVII right now

Yeah it's debatable. 2018 had Astro Bot Rescue Mission, God of War, Spider-Man, and Shadow of the Colossus remake. 2022 was great but the crossgen factor kinda ends up detracting points from both consoles lol.

Insomniac, FromSoftware, and Monolith Soft are the best at this. FromSoft is my favorite as their games are large, deep, and artistically glorious (Bloodborne 2015, Dark Souls 3 2016, Sekiro 2019, Elden Ring 2022, Armored Core 6 2023).

Elsewhere, I was really surprised that FF7 Rebirth only took 3 years to make given the sheer scale of the project and SquareEnix and Nomura being memed on for long development times. Hopefully it's a sign that SE is improving and we get FF17 sooner than expected.

Best SoP in terms of potentially good games ratios, by far.

Really wanted them to show new Tokon characters and I can't believe in that God of War leak anymore, at least the Dualsense is freaking awesome.

I think GoW2.5 is going to have a very short runway to release. Sony aren't going to give a 2.5D game a massive marketing blitz even if it is GoW. I imagine it's a post Saros release, so an announcement. It'll probably be at their Jan/ Feb SoP. Or they go all out at TGS (I doubt)

If this game actually exists they completely missing the series 20th anniverssary to announce it is ridiculous, at this point I don't believe it's real anymore, because if it this, the marketing is already a disaster.

All good games probably, never played them, but the funny thing is that I firmly believe Intergalactic will possibly be better than all of those combined.

Naughty Dog games are generation definying moments, so even as they missed their first go at this gen hardware with TLoU online, when their game do drop it has potential to outshine basically everything else released up to that point.

Sony oldest ever running series, pretty much pristine record on all major games, even as GT6 is considered a low point for many to me it's one of the best.

I think this number confirms GT7 has sold around 15M copies by now too.

The series was at 70M back at 2013, before GT6 released that year. GT5 sold have still sold some units after that and the 70M like the 100M is definitely 70M+ and 100M+.

The series was at 90M back in 2022, half a year after GT7 launch so likely already having sold around 5M+ copies by then.

GT6 sold 5.2M. GT Sport sold 13M+ so GT7 around or above 15M copies by now, considering some differences on the + for those 3 milestones, some last few GT5 sales and the uknown GT Sport sales around but likely over 13M.

If it indeed sold 15M copies it is now the series best selling game.
