Forums - Sony - PlayStation Nation |OT| Playing Astro Bot on the Horizon Until Dawn

I know what I want from Sony: a Minecraft Dungeon clone using the Astro Bot IP and aesthetic.

That is all.

I want either an Ape Escape with the Astro aesthetics or a Sly reboot with a comic book aesthetic. I think Ape Escape has a chance there is a lot of emphasis of it in Japan but after the success of Astro I feel like Asobi next game will be Astro.

A lot of PlayStation hardware "leaks" these days, either people need the views/clicks or AMD has no security LOL. I don't care about specs before oficial announcements but one thing that I actually like is that these leaks call the handheld a "PS6 handheld", all the rumors I read before talked about the device running ps4/ps5 and never about ps6 games, sure it could have been implied but Sony can give bad surprises so I was/am preparing for the worst lol.

These leaks talk about the PS6 handheld working like a SteamDeck and releasing after the standard PS6 so in the hypothetical scenario were this is real and they release two devices in the span of one year is going to be interesting what happens if the handheld for whatever reason is more popular than the standard.

yeah it's intersting how this handheld is going to work based on rumours. But I also imagine that Sony will be supporting the PS5 for quite a few years, especially if their internal game engines allow for that sort of scalability. PS6 for the absolute best version of the game, but PS5/ new handheld for lesser versions. PS6 exclusives via cloud.

A new Ape Escape would rule. And Asobi making it would be fantastic. But you're right, they'll probably stick to Astro for their next game. I do hope they can find the time to port Rescue Mission to PS5 w/ and w/o VR support (though obviously the latter would be the preferred experience).

The portable PS6 rumours don't bother me much because I cannot feasibly see what any developer right now would be doing which would stop them from running a game on PS5 spec hardware at 30fps/570-720p. Essentially I don't see it holding the next generation back.

This gen has shown us developers really aren't in a place to take advantage of much bigger power leaps in any near future. Equally, Nintendo comes out the woodworks with something like DK: Bonanza with 100% destructible environments at 60fps and it reminds us hardware power is not really a limiting factor in terms of new experiences. Above all we just needs developers to be more creative but huge budgets and chasing trends is getting in the way of that.

I'm personally hoping that PS6 has a gimmick because we need a bit more creativity going around

I'm kinda excited for a portable PS6.

I can see myself buying both for portable and home unless it becomes a hybrid type system (which imo would be perfect)

I can see myself swapping between my Switch OLED (eventually I'll buy a Switch 2 OLED when it becomes a thing) and a portable PS6 which I will use for break at work or travel.

"I’d like to share a little bit about our new project. I’m incredibly proud of what the team at Santa Monica Studio has been accomplishing. It’s a technically ambitious project, something that’s not easy to achieve. This is a new IP we’ve been working on for years, and if all goes well, we’re planning to show it to you later this year. I couldn’t be more excited." - Cory Barlog.

Ok I'm surprised and excited. I wasn't expecting to know anything about the game until at least late next year. He is calling it a new IP so the chances of it being GOW are going down but I'm still cautious because BluePoint said the same and it was a GOW spinoff lol. This reminds me of Druckmann talking about their next game last year to then being revealed at the Game Awards.

Not to rain on your parade, as I've been dying to find out what Barlog has been working on, but this quote was taken from what appears to have been a fake account. GameInformer just deleted their article on it.

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

It was also confirmed already by Schreire a while back that it’s not a new IP.

I know that but tbh I don't expect for them to say that it's an already existing IP at least not without showing it first, then for sure they are going to talk about the story of whatever franchise they are working in.

Saying that it's a new IP also doesn't make sense, that is true, the excitement got me lol.
