Today is Sony CES presentation. I don't expect anything PS related but will watch anyway, they have talked about movies in past presentations so an update for the Ghost of Tsushima movie would be nice.

Horizon film, Helldivers film, and Tsushima anime announced. Some cool tech shown off, too.
Horizon will be tough to pull off well and Helldivers will be difficult to make worthwhile when Starship Troopers already exists. I'd say the Tsushima anime has the best odds of being decent.
LMAO at that Afeela car price. It's like Japan is already a decade behind China at EV technology. This thing is dead on arrival.

Wait until you see the Afeela Pro price.

I got way more than what I was expecting lol.
-Helldivers movie announcement
-Horizon movie announcement
-TLOU season 2 on April
-Ghost of Tsushima anime, animated and directed by the same people who made "The Duel" for Star Wars visions and written by the writer of Psycho Pass. (It's going to be crazy)
-Sony is going to be the new headset provider for the NFL (I love football lol)
And the cherry on top wasn't part of CES but it was confirmed that the Bayonetta Origins director joined Housemarque, i liked that game but I love Housemarque even more, they deserve the best people available.
It was a hype and informative evening.

Actually Helldivers has a good chance if done right. Starship Troopers is a cult classic for their commentary about society and politics. Helldivers has a little of that but their current popularity lands in the action, if they want to make it a satire that's ok but the main focus has to be make something fun and crazy to watch, like old 90s movie kind of fun.
As much as I love Helldivers I know the playerbase of HD2 is basically COD players who just want to shoot stuff and don't want commentary of anything so there is not point in even trying to give what Starship Troopers already did. For the old guys who loved ST for the commentary well they should focus in the other half of ST, the fact that the only good bug is a dead bug.

I can just very easily see the sentiment being, "Why? Why does a Starship Troopers knockoff need a movie when the move it aped already exists?" If they do it right it could stand on its own (maybe crank up the dark comedy) or simply serve as a long awaited spiritual successor, but I could also much easier see it being superfluous.
Anyway, I had not heard those cast details about the Tsushima anime. Much more excited for that.

Aren't all adaptations superfluous tho? When companies adapt a book there is always a chance that the movie is good but not as good as the book, it wasn't needed but they did it for the money lol.
It's easier to expect things to be bad because statistically speaking there is a bigger chance for people to not like something than actually liking it. The advantage here is a lot of people who play Helldivers 2 didn't know what starship troopers was before the game became viral, this movie would be for them. I watched ST as a kid, I liked all the ST movies and after Traitor of Mars the only real reason to want more is because I like ST that much lol but I know ST isn't popular enough for more. This is the next best chance.
The GoT anime is in great hands production speaking.

A book being adapted into another medium? Not relatively.
A game most directly inspired by a movie being adapted into another movie? Arguably so.
We'll see if they can beat the odds but I'm not holding my breath.

It's to bring in new gamers that's the only reason Sony is bringing all their gaming IPs to movies/TV shows. Starship troopers is old people aren't going to go back and watch it because of the game. Now they will watch a new Hell Divers movie and then maybe feel the urge to go and try the game.
It was the same thing when people were like "TLOU is already a movie, why does it need a TV show". Then we see the sales boosted for the game. These movies/TV shows are for a new audience. Not for people like us who are so dedicated to gaming we go to social forums to discuss it.
