Actually Helldivers has a good chance if done right. Starship Troopers is a cult classic for their commentary about society and politics. Helldivers has a little of that but their current popularity lands in the action, if they want to make it a satire that's ok but the main focus has to be make something fun and crazy to watch, like old 90s movie kind of fun.

As much as I love Helldivers I know the playerbase of HD2 is basically COD players who just want to shoot stuff and don't want commentary of anything so there is not point in even trying to give what Starship Troopers already did. For the old guys who loved ST for the commentary well they should focus in the other half of ST, the fact that the only good bug is a dead bug.

I can just very easily see the sentiment being, "Why? Why does a Starship Troopers knockoff need a movie when the move it aped already exists?" If they do it right it could stand on its own (maybe crank up the dark comedy) or simply serve as a long awaited spiritual successor, but I could also much easier see it being superfluous.

Anyway, I had not heard those cast details about the Tsushima anime. Much more excited for that.

Aren't all adaptations superfluous tho? When companies adapt a book there is always a chance that the movie is good but not as good as the book, it wasn't needed but they did it for the money lol.

It's easier to expect things to be bad because statistically speaking there is a bigger chance for people to not like something than actually liking it. The advantage here is a lot of people who play Helldivers 2 didn't know what starship troopers was before the game became viral, this movie would be for them. I watched ST as a kid, I liked all the ST movies and after Traitor of Mars the only real reason to want more is because I like ST that much lol but I know ST isn't popular enough for more. This is the next best chance.

The GoT anime is in great hands production speaking.
