Glad for them to finally confirm over 160M. Question is how much over. I'll talk with Machina on what we should do with our PS2 figure. I'll have an article up in a little bit

PSP had some fantastic games from LocoRoco, Patapon, SOCOM, Wipeout, Metal Gear Solid, Twisted Metal, Syphon Filter, Resistance, Killzone, Ratchet & Clank alongside Secret Agent Clank, Daxter, 2 major God of War games, and even an exclusive Ace Combat.

Vita on the other you could count on your hand how many major titles it hand. I certainly loved games like Wiepout 2048, Gravity Rush, Uncharted Golden Abyss, and Teraway, but it still wildly pales in comparison to the PSP. Not to mention you HAD to buy the stupidly expensive proprietary storage. So Sony didn’t do the Vita any favors.

But like Nintendo has pulled off, a dedicated handheld with a dedicated library is a thing of the past.

The Vita failed for a lot of reasons, and one of them is that people don't want compromised versions of the high profile games, they want either a new thing or a proper high profile game.

People are buying those compromised games on Switch. Vita failed for the AT&T model. High price for the time. Poor marketing. Sony not supporting it and high memory card prices. 3DS stumbled as well due to a high price. They reduced it.

Sony and Nintendo are not comparable, their games have very different kinds of appeal, this is a horrible comparison.

Switch is Nintendo's only platform, there is no better version of their games to choose from, Switch gets Nintendo new mainline games, also their approach is completely different from Sony, they do not have games pushing the industry technically foward that benefit way more from being on stronger hardware, their games are already way simpler and less demanding, which wouldn't appeal nearly the same by having higher quality versions, as Sony games would not appeal nearly the same by having lower quality versions.

Damn, Shuhei Yoshida will be leaving Sony Interactive Entertainment on January 15, 2025

PSP had a lot of PS2 and even some Wii ports. PSP sold well.

PSP didn't only have a much stronger library of exclusives than the Vita, but the hardware itself was simply out of this world. It was truly futuristic and cool af not just as a video game console, but as an innovative piece of technology.

Hardware and homebrews carried the PSP. When the Vita launched, smart phones were around and mainstream. The wow factor difference is night and day.

Just the fact that Sony got Hollywood on board to fully support the platform that uses proprietary media was bonkers by itself. I still have like 20 something movies in storage, but need to get another PSP since mine died years ago lol. Then being able to transfer music to my PSP from my PC made the device all the more cooler. Also helped that Sony had some great marketing!

The PSP was an amazing system, I even enjoyed the library moreso than the DS' library even with all the RPGs and First party titles.

Sadly the Vita lacked the titles similar to the PSP and on top of that the stupid memory storage situation, reason why I didnt buy the Vita.

This is so sad, is he leaving or retiring?

One of the nicest guys around.

Vita hardware was far more impressive.

It even had a OLED screen, back in 2011.
