All I can say is that I want a RPG based on a Isekai story (preferably from a known anime IP).

Getting Kadokawa, would make that real easy.
Time to pump out a few Anime based RPGs Sony.

That is true but it would make more sense to keep the japanese company under their best japanese division even more when the real attractive of Kadokawa is the anime not the games and Aniplex is doing great in that regard. Only time will tell.

I could see things going so many different ways.

Sony Group might keep From Software with Kadokawa, in a more neutral zone to keep them operating as they have.

But I also kind of have a hard time believing that SIE wouldn't be interested in including them.

BTW I think this is the first time that I interact with you. I have to say I really like this thread. I'm not here everyday but when I do most people who comment really seem to enjoy PS and aren't the classic hater that wears the "I talk because I loved PS in the 90's even when what I liked wasn't even part of PS and I don't like PS anymore" costume.

Good stuff, lol.

I think we have a pretty good thread going.

Not super active, but there aren't many issues I've seen.

Kadokawa owns Re: Zero, so that could be the pick.

Everyone I know keeps telling me to watch Re:Zero.

Trying to catch up to Seven Deadly Sins before I do that....

It's a mixed bag.

There is a lot of stupid and cliche stuff on it, but there is also some very good stuff going on too.

Sometimes I wonder why I still watch it, other times it really feels great.

The third season is going on right now, up until now I feel like it's definitely the weakest of them, but it was mostly a big setup to what is about to go down in multiple sides at the same time, and even as I can't tell you why, it's when the anime has the biggest potential to shine, so it still can become a lot better this season.

I'd like to see what Spike Chunsoft could do with some dormant Sony IP's.

I'm not sure who would be a good fit though.

So who owns the Elden Ring IP?

I thought From Software bought the rights to it earlier this year, but a few on Era and Install Base disagree. Is it a similar situation to Pokemon?

Reading through the Install base OP, I'm concluding that no one publically actually knows.

Rights are pretty complicated. It's possible that From Software owns the IP itself, but Namco basically owns the first game.

Or Namco could own the gaming part entirely, and From Software might own the Elden Ring IP outside of gaming. If they wanted to sell movies, or other merchandise.

It's also possible that different regions have different rights. So it's possible that Namco holds trademarks outside Japan and From Soft holds it in Japan.

Or there could be some 50/50 splits somewhere.

Interesting.

I've seen a few IGN articles that claim FromSoftware owns the Elden Ring trademark. We probably won't know until the deal closes or not, and Sony discloses it in a financial report.
