Microsoft was forced by EU to disclose monthly active users number

Xbox console has 4 million and the Xbox website 6 million.

I'm not sure how many MAU's wouldn't also be included in this. I mean I guess someone could be using their Xbox online and not visit the store for a whole month but yeah.

I imagine the numbers would be pretty similar.

Yeah I just added that to my comment. I may go months without visiting a store.

So unless you're a player that's constantly buying games or downloading apps, you're not going into the store. So the number of MAU's would definitely be higher. Especially for more casual players.

Updated the title

Do you really think not visiting the store once in a month to see new stuff, sales or demos, is that common ? Especially on Xbox where digital sales are very high

I still would say it is relatively common. I wouldn't be surprised if the number of those visiting the stores/websites is off compared to MAU's by like a couple million or so.

Whether it's gamers like myself who don't have as much time to play as I used to, or those that are exclusively into Fortnite, Warzone, Apex Legends, or any other major FTP live service game, you're turning on your console/PC, and immediately loading into the game you want to play.

I have 4 games installed on my PC and that's all I'm going to play for the next couple of months. But even in my teenage years when Halo 3 or CoD Modern Warfare came out. I booted up my Xbox and went straight into the game. Not even thinking about playing another game for months on end lol. Which I imagine is how most casual players operate. Especially those that only play the major FTP titles I mentioned.

Not to mention, there's always going to be the purists that prefer to have a physical copy of their games.

Yep, I go months without clicking on the store (for ps, Xbox, or Nintendo)

I can imagine that being difficult on Series S.

And don't you need to go on the store to download Game Pass games ? (That was how it worked for PS Now for eg)

I didn't say most were buying physical games lol. Those gamers have a Series X or going from an XOne to a Series X eventually. But that overall number will continue to shrink. Hell, PlayStation and Nintendo have passed more than 50% of overall game sales being digital only.

Yes, you do need to go to the store to download Game Pass games. So we definitely have somewhat of an idea of how many in the EU that may be subscribed to Game Pass.
