I'll always enjoy "Vax Dance" Colbert and crybaby Kimmel's cognitive dissonance between suffering TDS while loving that Trump is president again.  Neither is a shell of their former actual comedian selves - Colbert is anti-funny since leaving Comedy Central and taking The Late Show - but at least they have material to be corny with.

This isn't really anything new for Google specifically though, like for Crimea if you view it from Russia it will say Russian territory, if you view it from Ukraine it will say Ukraine territory, if you view it elsewhere it will say disputed, likewise with things like Taiwan and Kuril Islands. A lot of those things are things that conservatives have convinced themselves would be helpful. Something like 30-40% support makes sense.

But I don't think changing the name of Gulf of Mexico was ever something any of them asked for. It probably feels like a stupid thing to prioritize even for his base.

I'm leaning towards this being true. Some people will start to care when it starts affecting them. I worry because it feels like a lot of people are so far gone, that even when they're getting directly hurt, they'll still convince themselves it wasn't the intention or that it was the Democrat's fault. 

People getting hurt from the policies that they keep voting for, is easily the best chance for people to open their eyes. And I'm expecting that to be the case, that this presidency will be a disaster, that a lot of Republicans will vote Democrat or otherwise decide to stay home.  

There's a part of me still worrying that maybe it still won't be enough, but I'm mostly optimistic.

USAID reports show no condoms sent to Middle East despite White House claim

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has told reporters, without providing any evidence, that President Trump’s new so-called Department of Government Efficiency “found that there was about to be 50 million taxpayer dollars that went out the door to fund condoms in Gaza”.

Leavitt made the claim at a news conference on Tuesday to support a sweeping freeze on US funding for aid programmes around the world, which will also cut US funding for humanitarian efforts in the Gaza Strip.

However, a detailed report on US Agency for International Development (USAID) contraceptive funding for 2023, shows the US did not fund any condoms for the entire Middle East Region that year.

A September 2024 media release from USAID detailing how $336m in humanitarian assistance to Gaza and the occupied West Bank would be spent makes no mention of contraception or family planning.

Instead, it said the funding covered “life-saving humanitarian aid, including vital food assistance, expanded support in emergency healthcare, nutrition, psychosocial services, and increased access to safe drinking water, hygiene products, and sanitation services”.

Trump administration to cancel student visas of ‘Hamas sympathisers’

US President Donald Trump will sign an executive order on Wednesday to combat anti-Semitism and pledge to deport non-citizen college students and other “resident aliens” who took part in pro-Palestinian protests, a White House official said.

A fact sheet on the order said Trump would order the Justice Department to “aggressively prosecute terroristic threats, arson, vandalism and violence against American Jews”.

“To all the resident aliens who joined in the pro-jihadist protests, we put you on notice: come 2025, we will find you, and we will deport you,” Trump said in the fact sheet. “I will also quickly cancel the student visas of all Hamas sympathisers on college campuses, which have been infested with radicalism like never before.”

A study released in May found that 97 percent of US campus protests were peaceful. Many of the protesters have said that conflating legitimate criticism of Israeli actions with anti-Semitism is a familiar tactic designed to silence people advocating for Palestinian rights.

The federal funding freeze was rescinded this morning.

White House: As far as the egg shortage, what's also contributing to that is that the Biden administration and the Department of Agriculture directed the mass killing of more than 100 million chickens, which has led to a lack of chicken supply in this country, therefore a lack of egg supply, which is leading to the shortage.

Without mentioning the reason for those killings, is because of bird flu, Lol.
