I feel somewhat legitimately bad for him. I suppose it won't be easy when any of us are older and have to come to the hard realization we aren't at our best anymore.

Like my grandfather used to say, 'I don't recommend getting old.'

Biden could have lost the re-election and went down as one of the most hated presidents of all time for refusing to step down. He has done the right thing here, no matter what happens he has chosen the selfless option and if Democrats win in November, Biden will be a hero to his party, history will look kindly on him even if they don't win I feel, few leaders would make this same choice. I'm not particularly thrilled it wasn't done as an address to the nation and he hasn't endorsed Harris (yet) but I'll give him a chance to fix that, as he says he will speak to the Nation later this week.

Unquestionably the right thing to do for his legacy.

Now we just wait and see what the next step is. I think Jaicee is kind of right in the other thread that they can't give the appearance of Biden just coronating Harris (although I don't think that they should have a month long open primary). These needs to be figured out fast, and the more people who immediately get behind Harris, the better.

Now, Biden has done his part, it's time for the Democrat Party to do its.

They need to be 100% united behind Harris, Harris is the VP, Harris has access to Biden's donors/funds, etc. Harris leads in all the polls versus other candidates. They can not and must not waste time with a mini-primary. The Democrats for the past weeks have looked like a mess, not united at all, anything other than full support of Harris and blasting her campaign across the country starting from now is a complete waste of time, anything other than not picking Harris VP is a waste of time, anything other than helping set up Harris campaign is a waste of time.

It's common sense to go with Harris, nobody gives a fuck about a mini-primary which will end up with Harris as the winner anyway, they need to get across the country, they need to look as one. We can't do a mini-primary where Democrats are going to be trashing each other instead of focused on Trump, where Democrat sore losers are going to have to lick their wounds after challenging and failing to beat Harris, we can't tell the world that we don't have faith in Harris so we're running a mini-primary. It's just a complete waste of valuable time.

It's time to get to work and fucking around with a mini-primary is a distraction, it's time to focus on winning.

I Am Coconut Pilled.

I legit think Biden is a good dude. I feel like he just wants Trump not to win, believes like I do that Trump is a real threat, and was operating under the idea that he was the best person to do that since he beat him 4 years ago. Things have changed, however, and he made a strong choice. Best of luck to us on the Left and I hope we can get behind the next person.

...

Well now we have about 3.5 months to get the whole country on board with the new ticket. It's going oing to be hard to get everyone on board that quickly.

It'd be a really bad look if Biden doesn't endorse Harris, basically says her own President doesn't have faith in her.

I'm not saying Biden should be like "Harris, you're the boss now!" obviously But Biden's endorsement will help get the rest in line, followed by Schumer/Pelosi/Hakeem, etc. So we can avoid this mini-primary suggestion.

At least I'm relieved Newsom already said he wouldn't challenge Harris, I think he's going to be a leading candidate for the Democrats in the future but something about him makes me think "career politician"

My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.

Now fuck off any other Democrats with even the slightest idea of challenging her.

Hopefully we get a lot more endorsements and fast.

Need Schumer and Hakeem to get Senate and House in line.

Pelosi and Obama would seal the deal for any stragglers, I think.

A Harris/Tim Walz ticket would be cool to see.  Republicans would attack his handling of the George Floyd protest, but Walz accomplished almost everything he said he would in Minnesota and I think Walz helps you get some of the Midwest states like Wisconsin and Michigan.
