Hey all,

Thanks for all the hype and enthusiasm following yesterday’s announcement that Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming to PS5 day and date with PC on August 31st!

Xbox players, we’ve seen your questions about if/when you can expect Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox. We’ve had an Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 in the works for some time, but we have run into some technical issues – particularly with split-screen co-op. We are still working on an Xbox version of BG3, but we’re not yet confident enough to announce it. We don’t like announcing anything until we’re ready, because we don’t want to get peoples hopes up until we’re sure we can deliver.

There’s no platform exclusivity preventing us from releasing BG3 on Xbox day and date, should that be a technical possibility. If and when we do announce further platforms, we want to make sure each version lives up to our standards & expectations. Thanks for understanding!

See Ange, Co-Op ruins EVERYTHING.

Ride The Chariot || Games Complete ‘24 Edition

Edit: Disregard, apparently the game runs well even on Steam Deck, which has lower specs than Series S on every metric except for one (RAM amount), so I doubt Series S is the culprit here. Hopefully Xbox can help them fix these technical issues, if this backlash has shown anything, it's that fans will be very angry if it's not day and date on Xbox, so Xbox needs to work with Larian to make sure it is day and date.

So apparently Jez is now implying that it is a timed exclusive and Larian is covering for Sony. Wouldn't surprise me at all honestly.

Don't expect level headed accurate info from jez Corden. Lol.

There's no way that's true

Boy...

don't make me come over there and slap you!

Very pleased to hear from them on the matter tho, and that we're not dealing with some shitty exclusivity deal preventing the game from being on Xbox, or even addressing the platform directly for whatever random ass period of time. Here's hoping they get it sorted in time for August.

Probably more to do with the Series S.

Guessing it is a problem with weak sauce Series S then, can't imagine Series X would run into any issues with split-screen. Xbox really goofed going with just 4 tflops on Series S, I remember saying many times in this thread after the specs leaked that they needed to bump it up to 6 tflops at least, and there were reports of devs telling them the same thing. Sadly they didn't listen.

Though it seems to me like it would be better to just release without split-screen support on Series S and make it singleplayer/online co-op only on Series S, rather than delay the release on S and X in order to try and get splitscreen working on S.

This shit happens, I'm told that the minimum specs on PC are lower than Series S so it's unlikely it has anything to do with Series S. Teraflops alone is a poor way to measure power as well. Could be a number of reasons and some could have nothing to do with the core specs of the console but something like the Development Kit.

I'm sure they'll ask Xbox for help and they'll sort it out before launch, the worst thing about this is poor PR, I'm assuming they were rushed to announce a date/platforms...We're still 6 months away from release, a lot can change between now and then in development. It could just be an annoying bug they can squash, Lol.

Sony just offered them to show off the game on the State of Play. They probably simply have a 10 days or so where they cannot announce it on another console in exchange. It is not the first time a publisher does that. People are freaking out for no reason :)

BG3 is coming to Xbox.

I sure hope you are right, but I have never seen a 10 day period for something like this. In the past when a game was seemingly announced as a PS exclusive on a Sony showcase but was actually multiplat, we always found out about the Xbox and/or Switch port within hours or a day at most.

Well, I made up a number there :)

My point is that we see that a lot; game announcement with only one platform (if they are showing during an Xbox show case, it will be 'Coming on PC/Xbox') and then later we learn that it will also come on other platforms. I believe it the same here.

I may be wrong but with Larian tweets and comments, it really seem to be the case.

But don't get me wrong; that' my believes, I want to play BG3 on my Xbox and I will be REALLY pissed if there is an exclusivity deal :) Just seem very unlikely to me based on the latest.

Literally anything is better than FF 14.

Not FF 7 Remake

What do you mean? FF7 is freaking good man; as a "non" original Final Fantasy 7 fan, the remake is one of my top WRPG ever...

Maybe I did not get your comment right tho haha :D
