While that is technically true, I've always viewed it the other way around. Buying a studio, I'm not gonna question about whether or not a game will be exclusive to a platform, but when it comes to game after game after game after game of a multiplatform studio and those games are being hatted, that's annoying as all hell.

On a more serious note tho, there very little to nothing that gets me excited in video games these days, outside of extremely rare exceptions like CP77 or NITW there’s pretty much nothing that gives me that same genuinely excited feeling like I had during the OG Xbox days. BG3 was one of those games. What a shit day to be an Xbox user.

Hmmm well I understand the expectations and disappointment factor I feel end result matters the most. Would much rather have a game like Baldurs Gate be timed exclusive than Sony just go buy Larian and make all future games permanent exclusive.

Just as I imagine most PlayStatiom gamers would prefer MS moneyhatted Starfield instead of outright buying the publisher and now thinking "oh no doom, no elder Scrolls, no Wolfenstein".

Money hats is child's play compared to what ms did with Bethesda.

EA/Take-Two is absolutely NOT taking a moneyhat.

EA is a little up Microsoft's ass and EA Play is attached to Game Pass, Take-Two is a company set in their ways, both companies are rich as hell.

You comparing at most a $6bn company to a $18bn+ for Take-Two and $30bn for EA.

I'd be SHOCKED if Sony manages to moneyhat a MAJOR title from either of these two companies.

Yeah I completely agree with you on that one, but there's unfortunately titles that Sony has hatted that were originally timed exclusivity, yet have never made it over to Xbox. And like you mentioned with Starfield, it wouldn't surprise me if BG3 does turn into a permanent hat. There's just no telling these days, and that kind of uncertainty sucks.

Though tbh I don't think acquisitions kill the uncertainty either. I'm sure there'll be plenty holding out hope Elder Scrolls 6 comes to PlayStation.
