7% down is just bad at that point you can only make excuses why it isn't that bad but people will only remember the 7%down maybe Mat Pricatella will say 'it is pretty good'....anyway at this point it is going to be interesting what the next quarters results will be...

You have a weird problem with Mat, huh?

Stop being a weirdo.

Tbh...I would rather Forza Horizon 6 have been day one multiplatform and releasing in 2025 than Forza Horizon 5 be a late port to PS5, Lmao. I just want Forza Horizon 6 now but with this port, and an update as well, Forza Horizon 5 has a lot more support left in it. Goddamn...I can't really blame them because of how massive Forza Horizon 5 is but I selfishly want Forza Horizon 6 now and I don't give a fuck if it's day one multiplatform...Stop updating Forza Horizon 5!!!

This is going to be massive though, maybe Forza Horizon will soon become a blackhole game, Lol.

Sea of Thieves is still selling great on PlayStation.

Folks in gaming have so internalized the idea that the huge live service games are huge that they are rarely brought up as why new games struggle to find an audience.

New games struggle (imo primarily) because there's no air for them to breathe. The biggest competitor to any new game is Fortnite.

Over 60% of new video game buyers in the US will buy a new video game once every 6 months - or less frequently.

For video game players overall, over 75% of US video game players say that most influential characteristic of a game that will get them to play is that game is free to play.

— Mat Piscatella (@matpiscatella.bsky.social) 30 January 2025 at 15:43

The second most influential characteristic is that over 65% of video game players say that regular free updates help push them towards playing a game.

Here's a chart looking at the top 2k+ games played on PS5 in the US during December 2024 from Circana's Player Engagement Tracker, ranked by the percentage of active PS5 users that played. (And it doesn't look much different on XBS or Steam)

This is what any new game is up against.

The list of most played games on PS5 in December 2020 and December 2024.

Shaded titles are franchises that appear on both lists.

The only reason why I don't like MS to bring all their games to PS is because Sony was always an asshole company to Xbox and they still are. I mean, Sony gave 0 back to Xbox and are still even working actively on reducing the number of games coming to Xbox.

Otherwise I really don't care but yeah, that's something which feels kinda bad because it's Sony lol

Stop being a weirdo.

You may call me a weirdo a bit immature tho,  but it is very clear that 'pretty good' meant nothing 4 million is disheartening.

Nah. You're being weird. You're trying to mock him because you disagree with his take that Indiana Jones did "pretty good" in December. You're desperate to spread your narrative that these numbers are bad, others disagree with you that these are good numbers, Satya Nadella wouldn't fucking single it out in an investors meeting and praise it if he thought it was bad numbers. I'll once again remind you that you don't know shit compared to Mat's years of experience in analysing this sort of stuff. Before you try to mock him, take a look at yourself.

Maybe you should have called into the investors meeting to Satya and been like "Uhh what are you praising those numbers for? They are pretty bad, I should know, I'm Konnichiwa of VGChartz" You always act like you're correct on everything. You're always desperate to spread a pessimistic narrative. But yes, trying to mock someone because he make a post your disagreed with, not even directly in response to you, is weird.

But not a surprise.

I don't really feel like Sony has done much of that lately, and by that I mean, specifically "fuck Xbox" money-hats, I'm not talking about 1st party or publishing deals, but those money-hats that are just about locking Xbox out, I also think we'll see less of it in the future as purse strings are being tightened and Xbox is making these moves anyway so ultimately it just becomes more and more a waste of money on Sony's part, I don't think they'd be that obsessed with "finishing off" Xbox if they're already selling more than triple Xbox, Lol.

But if the next Xbox is just an Xbox/PC hybrid then it won't matter, Lol.

Michael pachter was also an analyst with statements that are/were famously bad, we just had Jason Schreier saying Dragon age did well and then removed his tweet after the audience knew the numbers. Again pretty good means nothing. especially know when we find out about the numbers.

Nadella says a lot of stuff but if it is about Xbox it is always a letdown.

👀 stay strong sisters.
