So now that BO6 provided a big boost to Game Pass, it would make sense to start dropping the other CoDs in a regular cadence...Right?...Lol. Even once a month to keep Call of Duty fans subscribed to Game Pass without hurting Black Ops 6 too much would be better than whatever they're doing now. I'll likely play Black Ops 6 but I'm not paying for Cold War or Infinite Warfare so get them on Game Pass and I will play them too.

Maybe the singleplayer but I doubt they will do the MP.  The reason I believe that is because how can ABK sell dlc and other MTX for older games since they are not going back to those games to make such items.  ABK probably want their player base to stay on the latest game as much as possible not split between the latest and oldest games.  It will be interesting to see if ABK actually do release any of their older CODs to GP.

I wish Microsoft would seperate Blizzard from Activision lol. Activision has poisoned Blizzard for far too long

I'm pretty sure they did. Majority of the execs at the ABK holdings company itself were laid off earlier this year with those positions integrated into Xbox itself. And they always make it a habit to never include Activision and Blizzard right after the other.

Like, "you'll see games from our internal studios at Activision, Bethesda, Blizzard, and Xbox Game Studios." They intentionally separate them now. I don't recall the last time anyone said "Activision Blizzard" and it seems like it's because they separated them.

This is their long term plan.

They knew hardware isnt going anywhere so they are gonna do what MS has been best at - providing a software service. Windows, Office, etc.

I love your positivity, "hey, Microsoft is killing their hardware division but they will still keep making money, yay!"

Let's wait to see how much this will benefit YOU in the long term.

Not that I agree with your sentiment but I chuckled at you asking how it will benefit Basil because Basil has like every platform released and based on his wishlist that dude must have thousands of games on Steam, Lmao. It won't affect Basil at all, positive or negative, if Xbox hardware ceased to exist (and that's not on a comment on if I think it will or won't) but Basil is far from locked to a single platform.

That's where you are wrong. One platform disappearing from the market will affect everybody; Regardless if you used to use that platform or not.

How would Xbox ceasing to exist as a hardware affect Steam? (And again, I don't think Xbox will cease to exist as hardware anytime soon but I'll just entertain the hypothetical).

According to Circana's Player Engagement Tracker, on Oct 23rd, 19% of US active Xbox Series players and 18% of US active PlayStation 5 players launched Call of Duty HQ. On October 28th, 52% of active XBS players and 34% of active PS5 players did so. Both were all-time highs for Call of Duty HQ.

Prior to the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the previous high for US daily active player engagement for Call of Duty HQ on Xbox Series came on August 31st, 2024 (34% of daily actives), while for PS5 it was September 7th, 2024 (27%). Source: Circana Player Engagement Tracker

Supporting data points are beginning to suggest that yes, coming to Game Pass very likely helped boost Call of Duty engagement on Xbox Series, but it also hasn't appeared to significantly detract from engagement across other platforms. Still early, needs more data.

(And btw... over HALF of all daily active players on a platform playing one game is bonkers engagement).

Was wondering why this meant anything then I remembered Activision has their own engine...

So yeah, it's probably not Call of Duty, and interestingly it's not the CoD engine either.

Sledgehammer out the CoD mines makes the most sense too because they're the worst CoD developer, Lol.
