Asha's been making moves recently, wanting to get the hype train rolling for Helix already.

StarCraft
Diablo V
Physint
Elder Scrolls VI
Fallout (Obsidian)

All would be major releases that many fans would be looking forward to on next-gen hardware, and so far, reports and wording have been shown in Xbox/PC marketing. While it's too early to tell if any of them will be console-exclusive, it's smart to start building hype for these releases while the remainder of this gen plays out.

Well, let's be cautious here. Most of those things listed began under Phil Spencer's tenure. The Physint acquisition is indeed credit to her, and maybe Obsidian's Fallout really started going once she stepped in, but it feels like she's being showered with praise for even the most inconsequential of tweaks.

While true, the point is primarily that plans change. Even at the last minute. While Xbox may deny that a PS5 version of E-Day was ever in development, it has been consistently reported that not only was a PS5 version indeed in development, but it was in development until well over 2 weeks before the reveal that the plug was pulled. Obsidian Fallout was something that she started as part of the recent "reset"

Everything else that started under Phil is still either early or in the middle of development now. If Asha was willing to pull the plug on Gears and Clockwork so quickly, you can only imagine what she's willing to do with the multitude of major projects that are lining up over the next several years, early in Helix's lifecycle.

Upcoming online multiplayer, Gamepass and cloud changes have leaked to the ResetEra mods from a reliable source who previously leaked 2025 Gamepass changes:

Day One Gamepass games ending between February and April 2027. Unclear on what will happen with already announced day one Gamepass games presumably releasing after that date, like Persona 6 (supposedly Gamepass deals are made upfront so in theory they should still happen since the publishers are unlikely to give them a refund)

Online Multiplayer only- $11 a month
Gamepass ad tier- $13 a month
Gamepass ad free tier- $20 a month
Online Multiplayer + Gamepass ad tier bundle- $15 a month
Cloud gaming 25 hours- $6 add-on to one of the above
Family plan- $6 add-on

$20 and no day one games? I highly doubt it. That is just the $15 tier right now. The vast majority of people would unsubscribe if that were the case. I definitely wouldn't bother.

Also just $6 for a family plan? Also seems unlikely.

This seems EXTREMELY unlikely.

Edit: Could I see changes coming? Sure. But this isn't it. Ad tiers for less money? Sure. Removing day one games would be suicide as that is why like 90% are subscribed.

I think it is possible this is legit, the source supposedly previously got 2025 Gamepass changes correct, and remember that Asha was brought in to bring up Xbox's miserable 3% profit margin. Asha specifically called Gamepass a bet that didn't fully pay off in her letter about an Xbox reset, she called it a part of the Xbox business that they invested in which hurt the core business.

$6 add-on for either the $12 ad free plan or $20 ad free plan, so $18 or 26 for a family plan.

$20 to not see ads and get no day 1 releases is wild.

This post claims NateTheHate vouched for the Game Pass rumor, but he clarified he has no information on these claims and only noted the leaker's prior accuracy elsewhere. No official Xbox sources match the described changes beyond limited cloud gaming updates.

Removing day one games would basically kill Game Pass. And yeah this seems very shaky. Not saying this isn't happening at all, but doesn't seem likely.

An ad tier for less month seemed like a given as they've been trialing ads and we know they will be charging for Xbox Cloud Gaming in the near future.

And just because someone plays a game day one via Game Pass doesn't mean they would have purchased the game at full price. The vast majority of games I play day one I'd either wait for a heavy discount or not bother to buy at all if they weren't on Game Pass.

Most people are subbed for day one games, which means paying $23/month for Ultimate or $14/month if they are PC only. With over 30 million subscribers Game Pass has to be bringing in ~$500 million a month.

If Xbox wants to save some money they could drop Fortnite, EA, Ubisoft, and/or instead of having 500+ games lower the total number of third-party games.

Agreed, also because the heavy third party focus is from a time when Gamepass still was front and center of their overall business model- it is not anymore, just another stream of revenue. Taking their change of strategy and their increased first party output quantity compared to three to eight years ago I am actually astonished how many third party day one games Gamepass still gets.
