Forums - Sony - Home Beta Delayed? Sony, what are you thinking?

Forget the BETA being delayed. We were to have full Home integration by now...

I posted this in the other thread about this, but it applies here too:

I can't believe how many people are giving Sony a free pass on this and just saying "Whatever. Better late than never or broken."

What a crock of crap. LAST November they had holiday commercials advertising like it was already available, and it may not even be out THIS November? That's total BS and inexcusable. Any Sony fanboys who write this off are such hypocrites, because if the same thing happened to a highly publicized feature of Wii or 360, you'd be all over it like flies on a copy of Superman 64. The arrogant little bastards are just expecting everybody to sit there and wait - and then when it comes out it's a BETA?!?!? Screw you, Sony.

This is such utter crap. It's not like they have been rolling out other features, other than revamping the store. And when they do roll something out it'll be another 45 minute update process. THIS is the kind of crap why my PS3 only gets 20% of my play time and 10% or so of my software purchases.

And by the way, nice call on the whole Citadel comparison.  You are SO right on target there.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

I'd rather have home delayed and come out at least as a decent product, then released early to please these A.D.D kids only to have a crappy product

just give me In-game XMB and nobody gets hurt..

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

Nice post, you hit the nail on the head. Hype, Hype, Hype, CRASH. XBox Live has had 2 systems to perfect its features and continually impresses. Interaction, availability, rewards, ect. I would like to see Sony succeed in providing an online community even-close to what XBox Live provides, but alas, it may never happen. Ultimately more members online is beneficial to the gaming community. I have nothing against Sony, and feel that success for any system only benefits us, (the gamers)!

You want to see a MS Money machine at full speed. Check out the XBox Live monthly sales, for just games, let alone movies, music videos, tv shows, ect. XBox Live has perfected this. XBox Live service is making them a TON of money, and will continue to do so. In the end, it may be beneficial to ask PS3 owners to pay for the service monthly. Please do not destroy me for the suggestion, but sometimes you have to pay for quality, and free doesn't always mean better. If you cant afford, oh......say $8.00 monthly, you really shouldn't have even bought a PS$3$!

While the constant delays get annoying very quickly, it's still better to delay the service than have it be dead on arrival because it's buggy and crappy.
I'll admit to not having any interest in this service, but for those of you who do, wouldn't you rather wait a few more months to ultimately get what you were promised, rather than insist that it be rushed and get something that's not worth waiting as long as you already have?

And to those who are miffed about Sony breaking another promise over the release date, just remember that if the final product is good, you'll forget all about the wait. Or do you still hear people going on about how many times Ocarina of Time was delayed?

I couldn't care less about Home, but it would be nice to have all the accomplishments/friends intergration that most games are already taking advantage of.

Well, one of the key questions should be "Why is this being delayed?"

If we look at massively multiplayer games the closed beta typically represents a stage where most of the features have been defined and implemented and the content is being rapidly created; delays that happen at this stage are more often caused by features being poorly thought out, or content taking too long to develop, than from bugs needing to be fixed.

IMO, Home has always been a fanboy talking point. It's a useless feature with little or no purpose. It won't sell hardware, and it's just an excuse for PS3 fans to bring up whenever 360 owners talk about achievements, which are equally useless and add nothing to a game except a generic reason to play it more.

Sorry if that seemed harsh, didn't mean for it to sound that way, but that's honestly how I feel.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

This is retarded. A company as powerful as Sony should not be having to delay Home like this. Either hire more people or overwork the ones you have now, but don't piss off the consumers. This is absolutely stupid, and if there were a way to recall Sony's board members and Kaz Hirai, I'd do it. Or I'd at least threaten to do so to set their asses on fire so they can hurry the hell up.

Funny, because if this was on the 360, people would be giving it a free pass as well. There are people that are going to give shit to Sony in every single news article so I'm finding your point difficult to understand especially considering that all you have to do is change Sony to Microsoft or Nintendo and it will prove to be the exact same thing.

Obviously they should be releasing this thing because I really want these additions to the network. Contrary to you, I like the additions to the PS3 with all the features and such they add.
