Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Wii's in China?

I wonder how much the Nintendo wii will cost in China? Any ideas if they will be either Japanese Wii's or PAL Wii's?

Cost of Chinese Nintendo Wii's I guess could be launched at around the $150 to $200 US mark. Have to consider the Nintendo Wii is mass produced in Chinese factories for very cheap prices.

Potentially the Chinese and Indian markets are the largest markets that could generate lots and lots of sales for Nintendo. A combined total of around 40% of world's 7 billion population live in China and India.

How will Chinese censorship control the games over there? A communist country like China could impose strict enforcement upon what is and what is not acceptable for the Chinese people.

So people Nintendo Wii in China. Please give us your views on this topic.

do you know if PS360 are already released in China ? do you know the price ?

(just to see if they are cheaper or not)

Time to Work !

I doubt the Wii will sell for less than $250 in China. Why would they sell consoles in china for less profit when they haven't met demand yet in North America? You also have to remember that China i notorious for pirating software, so they will have fewer game sales as well.

I wonder if VGChartz will be tracking Chinese and Korean numbers? I suspect that sales will be underwhelming, given the piracy issues and an underdeveloped console market.

Although China and India have large populations, the gaming culture in general is Westernised, and this extends to Japanese games too, so I question the appeal of gaming to the Chinese and Indian masses.

won't those be included as "others"

Can currently get imported Xbox360's, Wii's and PS3's for a price slightly above US prices.

May sell reasonable amounts due to population but attach rate will be low considering average earnings for much of the country is sub 200 US dollars/month.

Most of the software will be pirated anyway and The Party has no control over the content of pirated material.

First off, worlds population is 6 billion, not seven.

Secondly, Nintendo has announced, that Wiis price will be in line with worlds price. So i'd take that as 200-250 USD, high end with Wii Sports and low end without, although, it may be in line with the korean price, with the difference, that in China, you don't need an "safety margin" for changes in currency values when trading in USD.

Third aren't all of the three consoles made in china.

China uses PAL-D, most of Europe uses PAL-B/G, Japan NTSC-M (like USA). But is this really an issue today? Can't most TVs use all the different standards?

the 360 and ps3 both have been launched in india and are quite over-priced
the price of the ps 3 ,if converted directly to dollars exceeds 600,whereas
the 360 is a bit lower than that, but still quite expensive, thus making pirated hardware the easy choice for many gamers. pirated software too is easily available here.but then ,theres also the internet.
as for the wii,it still hasnt seen release in india, and even pirated,it costs much more than a 360

Pirated hardware? Do you mean like a X360 clone? Or a chip-modified X360?
