Well, I said at the time when Sega projected 4m that it was actually a conservative estimate. This game is essentually Wii Sports 2 for a lot of people and it will continue to sell well right up until Nintendo actually makes a Wii Sports 2.

I dont understand what we are arguing about. Im angry at the consumers for buying crappy games not at companies for making them...

So you are saying that every game you buy, you justify its existence by looking at howmuch profit it makes? I find that hard to believe as im sure that some of your favourite games also may not have profited as much. As a gamer all I care about is if the game is good or not. The whole profit thing comes in after when I enjoyed the game and hope they make a sequel... And when I see a company get by on crappy games (EA for example) I tend to get upset. Hence why I posted my displeasure...

Also, I don't bleieve they you'd rather want M&S olympics 2 rather than game like Shenmue 3...despite the fact M&S will pull in a much bigger profit I'm sure 99% of gamers who played it would like Shenmue 3 to come out isntead despite profit or loss. We just have to cope with the fact that casual gamer is becoming the main type of gamer...

Why would Sega make another M+S game right now?  It's still selling.  As it still sells, its basically free money.  If they made another, they would probably stop sales of this one for another game that might not have legs of titanium.  What Sega will probably do, is take this money and put it into Samba di Amigo, or NiGHTS, or Valkyria Chronicles, or Iron Man, or Sonic Unleashed... (etc.)

When you have a game with legs like this, you don't rush the sequel.  You let it keep selling as long as you can, and puta sequel on the back-burner with a budget reserved, and just keep letting it print money. Especially if you have other monetizable assets to develop in the meantime.

Ask the average person on the street what Shenmue is and they will probably tell you it's a killer whale at Seaworld.

However we sit here and argue about sales while injustice like people not having a clue of what Shenmue is continue to exist. :)

Every time someone plays God of War or any game with quick time events...a disclaimer should pop up and says. "ATTENTION. This game mechanic was started in a game called Shenmue. Play it now or your 360 will RRoD within 24 hours"

Games are no longer about movies. Games are now about social interactions. Sega called it, Sega nailed it, and Sega will reap the rewards.

In the meantime, I'll munch on some more crow. Anyone wants some? 

 The 2010 Winter Olympics happen in Feb of 2010 so maybe Sega will release Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics in Sep of 2009.  I see it having slightly better graphics, 2 additional characters, winter sports, a return of dream sports but with them also allowing balance board support, and maybe online (but likely not, knowing Sega).

 I could see that.  However, that's still more than a year away.  There's plenty to do with that money in the meantime, which was my main point.

It would be great if the balance board were supported. I mean, many Winter Sports involve boarding of some sort.

I'd also like to see how they implement the "curling" event.
