Forums - Nintendo - Twilight Princess HD & Wind Waker HD To Be Ported To Switch & Shown At September Directirect

Like I commented under the front page article;

Direct in september isn’t much of a guess because I think most septembers since WiiU have had a Direct. Announcing two Zelda ports now I feel would be weird, because for one it’d be two big games, and by the time they’d release BotW2 is around the corner. Kind of seems like overkill. And that’s coming from me.

They don’t need it anyway, TPHD wasn’t that good of a remaster (game’s good, but the HD version it was barely worthy of being called ‘remaster’) and I don’t get why one would want ports of ports to be ported anyway. Switch doesn’t need it either. We already have a remaster, of Skyward Sword, and an excellent remake, of Link’s Awakening. I’m sceptical.

But still, having said that I’d still buy them in a heartbeat because they’re Zelda and I got to keep my collection complete.

They better release them in a 60 dolar package. If they are sold individually at 60 I think I will just play the Wii U versions on my Steam Deck.

This would be a huge deal for me personally. I have a Wii U still, but only for TP and WW. Once those get ported I get rid of my Wii U. The Wii U is kind of annoying, a power brick for the console, 2nd power brick for the Gamepad. It would clean up my gaming room quite well. I've been wanting a port for a while now.

Bold: Because I want to play two of my favorite games in handheld and in HD on my favorite console. That the Switch doesn't need it doesn't matter anyways. It doesn't need a ton of games that have been released on it.

Where is Xenoblade X, Nintendo? The entire WiiU library is on the Switch one way or another, the only one missing is X.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

If they do this then they should release them as 1 package instead of as 2 separate games. Though if they added joycon motion controls to Twilight Princess to match the Wii controls I'd be all over that.

The way Nintendo has handled remastering the 3d Zeldas for HD has been interesting, because they seem to be putting in more work for more subtle results. With Wind Waker they seem to have done the least amount of actual work in updating the visuals, but the changes they did make to the lighting changed the artstyle so much that they stand out a lot more. With Twilight Princess they put a lot of work into upgrading the textures for HD displays which they didn't do for Wind Waker in addition to adding the improvements to the lighting they did for Wind Waker, and they added some polygons in places to make certain objects less blocky. But because the changes didn't affect the artstyle they were accused of making a lazy upgrade when the actual changes are much greater than with Wind Waker. With Skyward Sword they shifted the focus to doubling the framerate to 60 FPS and mostly used AI upscaling to improve the textures instead of doing it by hand the way they did for TP. Like TP there are extra polygons on things like the Link model - I think they went further this time in adding more polygons - and some enhanced lighting, but nothing that changes the artstyle,

Probably because Monolith has been busy making all other Xenoblade games during the Switch generation lol. There's been 4 Xenoblade releases on Switch and Monolith has made it clear that XC3 will get a Torna - The Golden Country style expansion at some point. I imagine next year. Maybe a port of X will be Monolith's last Xeno release on Switch?

I believe Monolith asked Nintendo to port it and Nintendo gave them the choice. A remake of Xenoblade or a port of X.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Now that everybody is talking about it and expecting it, I feel like Nintendo won't release them lol.
I hope it is true. Twilight Princess and Wind Waker are among my favourite games of all time. I would love to have the HD versions on Switch.

And thank God they chose Xenoblade DE. As much as I want to replay Xenoblade X on the Switch, Xenoblade 1 needed that remake/remaster a lot more, for both its visuals and QoL improvements.
