PS5 vs Xbox Series X|S vs Switch Launch Sales Comparison Through Week 89

PS5 Vs. Xbox Series X|S Vs. Switch Global:

  1. Switch: 21,948,209
  2. PS5: 21,612,833
  3. XSX|S: 15,977,753

Through the first 89 weeks available worldwide the Nintendo Switch is ahead of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Switch is ahead of the PS5 by 0.34 million units units and is 5.97 million units ahead of the Xbox Series X|S. The PS5 is ahead of the Xbox Series X|S by 5.64 million units.

The Switch has sold 21.95 million in 89 weeks worldwide, while the PS5 sold 21.61 million units and the Xbox Series X|S 15.98 million units.

Looking at the marketshare through 89 weeks, the Switch is in the lead. The Switch has a 36.9 percent marketshare, the PS5 sits at 36.3 percent, and the Xbox Series X|S at 26.8 percent.

The Switch is about to leave the other two systems in the dust.  It should be pretty obvious from the graph.  This current time period was actually Switch's worst year in relative terms.  Nintendo fell short of it's hardware forecast by quite a bit, and they didn't have notable games until the holidays.  Switch is ahead of the other 2 systems in spite of this.  And now that we are about to get to Switch's second holiday on the chart, it should be obvious that it is going to leave the other two systems in the dust.  Neither will move above that red line again.

is it dropping to 2-3-4k? or it will hold around 5-6k for a while?

It will be dropping to the 2-3-4K range over the coming weeks.

What's the cause of this, less sources reporting them, or just what numbers we do have plummeting?

A mix of both and I don't want our estimates to go above what Sony has reported since it was at 117M in March and the latest report didn't have any figures for June.

I'm very curious when Sony will discontinue the PS4.
