I do agree that having it integrated into the plot like that is preferable.

I was sad for Tikal because of her situation. I would not be sad for Omochao if he was killed off.

I don't think anything can compare to this monstrosity...

 

I could somewhat bear the night time stages of Unleashed, but this "thing" was a constant annoyance any time he showed up.

Chip at least turned into a total badass in the end. Omochao, as usual, did nothing important to the story.

Navi was a cutie, I liked her presence. I played and finished Sonic Adventure on Dreamcast and don't even remember an Omochao.

People are easily annoyed.
