I was thinking about buying the PS3 so i decided to think of the benefits of it. It has lots of great games, but most are on the 360 or just not worth buying an entire system for. One thing that is still on my mind that gives it a temptation is the Blu-ray, and i was wondering how many of you bought a PS3 mainly because it has a Blu-ray player?

Yeah, this thread's been done to death, and the general consensus is, not too much, except for a certain member of this site who proclaims it in every post.

But I'll answer in advance. I'm buying one on June 12, 2008, and no, it won't be for Blu-Ray, but that will be an excellent addition, something my XBOX 360 can't do.

not a lot of ppl would do this considering standalone blu-ray players are cheaper than PS3's nowadays

Well this thread has a higher chance of success than the last 87. This one is actually worded rather kindly and is simply looking for information, while others were worded more close to "I want to prove that the PS3 is only being sold as a Blu-Ray player, so prove me right".

OT: never actually put a Bluray in my PS3.

Well I bought a PS3 for the games not really for blu ray but it is a nice extra :).

No but is just a nice addition to a great console.

since people who buy PS3 for Blu-Ray won't be in this forum in the first place. That's like asking oversee citizen to have an in-person vote.

I would say that for people tech savvy enough to know that PS3 is the best deal as a blu-ray player, they are also tech savvy enough to try at least 1 or 2 games.

An example of it is like the PIP function on my tv, I only use it very sparely, but I use them nevertheless.
