Looks visually stunning but I really hope this one has better writing than the first. The first film really suffered due to its bland story and 1 dimensional characters.

The first film's story was deliberately simple and 'derivative'. They had a message they wanted to convey and the colonizer/savage romance (not actually savages, but that's what the trope's called) is a well-worn story type inspired by actual human history. It did what it was trying to do well, and the focus was the living world, not the clever or original writing.

I'm cautiously optimistic.
I enjoyed the first film but I hope this isn't just retreading the same ground and actually does something fresh.

Bet with Liquidlaser: I say PS5 and Xbox Series will sell more than 56 million combined by the end of 2023.

Yeah, I'm on the same boat. I'm gonna watch it with a critical mind from the go.

Still I remember the theatre experience, watching this movie in company of my father when I was but a midget, was incredible at the time. Can it match up the impression I had of it back then ? Doubt it but I still think at worst it's going to be somewhat decent enough.

Those decades of prep must have meant something right 😅

Avatar was a bad film that also suffered from white savior syndrome.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Meh. I’m not impressed. Kind of looks.. I don’t know. Fake. Didn’t like the first movie either though, it was basically Pocahontas but with aliens. I felt the hype at the time was mostly due to it being a pioneer in the 3D effect in cinemas. We’ll see if this sequel can recapture that audience.

Expecting a simple story and a visual and audiovisual spectacle, I'm fine with that. Avatar was great for what it was, a blockbuster.

It looked great in 3D when we saw Dr Strange. I’m not getting much from the story but I’m definitely going to watch it in 3D when it comes out
