Forums - Gaming - Between the Big three (Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo), who is the worst when at the top?

As I said, I don't describe this as reinvigorated handheld space, rather as creating a new market space which is the hybrid-console market space. Valve's Steam Deck comes with a device to be plugged on TV or Monitors. Sure, it lacks a dock to increase its power, but I can see their concept is to state that you can play it like a standard PC (and even use it like a PC)

If anything I think Switch was the last nail in the conffin of handhelds. With Lite barely selling 20% of the standard model last quarter we can see handheld-only Nintendo devices are now confines to a very small audience

I don't think there is sufficient information to suggest that there is a new market space. To determine this we would have to seek competitor products (i.e. other hybrid units) that come to the market. We just aren't seeing that. In addition, I do not think that you can utilize the Lite's sales in that manner. People don't just look at the Lite as a cheaper dedicated portable console. They look at it as a Switch with less features. The reinvigoration of the portable console market comes from any home console primary gamer utilizing the portable nature of the Switch. The vast majority of Switch users utilize both modes. If any of those individual's would have been home console primary owners then Nintendo has reinvigorated a market. Conversely, you could also attempt to make the same claim with the home console market with the same logic, but the home console market was not in danger (home console sales; Gen 7 total: 260M Gen 8 total: 180M).

I do not think that the majority of people are purchasing a Steam Deck for TV play, though that is a feature that I'm sure will be used. Also, I'm fairly certain it doesn't come with anything to connect to your TV at the time and you have to purchase a separate USB-C to HDMI adapter for TV connectivity.

There is no winner, a corporation on top is a corporation on top. They all suck when left unchecked.

Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-5643-2927-1984

Animal Crossing NH Dream Address: DA-1078-9916-3261

luckily i did the save password thing, or i wouldn't be able to comment lol. MS never had an idea of what they're doing, and still don't. Sony fought hard to repair there image after the failures with the PS3, and rebounded with new IP pushing the console. Ninty learned nothing, moving on with the Switch was the right move.

verdict:MS

Well this is false.

Literally about 85-90% of the PSP library (including PSOne classics) that are available to download is compatible with the Vita. This goes up to 99% when you factor in workarounds like transferring from PS3 to PS Vita. I've no idea where you are getting your compatibility numbers from, but they aren't accurate

I knew you would use that source, i already researched on it long time ago. Sorry, PSP has over 1000 games, even if you don't count JP only games, it's still more than that list (doesn't even have 500 games). Not to mention PS1 with over 4000 games.

That's why i said "selected games" from the total library. Backward compatibility of 3ds that could play all DS/DSi games as well as it's virtual console games were superior compared to vita hence it sold more.

Nintendo, easily.

Back in time when the NES was around they demanded that 3rd party publishers only release their games on the NES in the US which completely ruined the market for their competition.
This kind of unhealthy exclusivity was basically the same Xbox is trying to do now by buying all these big publishers, so Microsoft is most probably becoming the next 80s-Nintendo in the future.

Okay, but I started this entire conversation off stating these were downloadable titles. Yes, Vita doesn't support physical titles. Do you have any idea how big the Vita would be with the UMD drive AND a CD drive to read PS1 discs?

Also, 3DS did not initially launch with Virtual Console whereas Vita had this feature out of the gate.

But MS is not trying to lock their games behind their console.  I actually believe if Sony and Nintendo would allow GP on their consoles, MS would release PS and Nintendo version of those games or allow streaming via cloud without any reservations.  MS want to be the distributor of content, they actually do not care what hardware you play it on as long as you sub to GP.
