I think it is a 50/50 chance of being a false flag.

What better way to motivate a wavering arm then to say the enemy went attacked our country. Might be a last ditch effort to motivate some soldiers to stay inline. Might also be a way to scare local people into thinking the threat is real and not propaganda.

They could have attacked a civilian structure for that though, like, false flagging an oil facility which is critical for the war efforts seems like shooting yourself in the foot for little gain, doesn't appear like there's enough of a reluctance for war in Russia to affect Putin thus far, it also has the chance to do the opposite in that, a lot of those who support war, do so because they believe they are safe, it doesn't affect them - Until it does, take those Russians reacting it for example, their main concern seems to be how Ukraine even got into the country and exposing the lies of Russia saying Ukraine military is being easily defeated, it could make supporters of an invading force more fearful.

See I think differently, it is the perfect target. Just destroy enough but not all. They can spin it as Nazis trying to disrupt Russia's liberation of Ukraine.

I guess we will find out soon enough from Ukraine if they hit it or not. Personally I hope they did do it then it will make Putin think some more and reconsider the mission, hopefully not panic and do something stupid.

...How?

Holy shit, don't fuck with Ukraine.

The first strike on Russian soil was sorta believable, a missile fired from Ukraine into Belgorod, I mean, it's an embarrassment that Russia didn't shoot it down but it's not unbelievable but now? They straight up flew into Russia and bombed their oil facilities? Holy shit this Russian military is downright pathetic, never did I think Ukraine would have the capacity to make attacks like this on Russian soil.

I don't think it was a false flag, it makes no sense, that oil facility is very important to their war efforts, fair fucking play to Ukraine. Have to wonder how this goes down with Russian public, those that support the war effort mostly do so because they don't believe Russia is at risk, now Russia has been attacked twice, it brings up questions about Russia's military capabilities.

Serious blow to Russian propaganda.

It would be believable as a false flag if the fires were pretty small, as Russia would remove the oil ahead of time.

But assuming it is real - why should I care? Russia are the aggressors here, not Ukraine. Oil & ammo depots provide supporting logistics to the Russian war machine. Seems like legitimate military targets for Ukraine to me.

Seems Russia tried to call Europe's bluff but blinked first.

Yeah, it definitely doesn't look like the oil was removed.

Fully agreed, Ukraine is neither confirming or denying it, I think they're just playing mind games but I don't care if they did do it, it's a perfectly fair response to Russia's aggression, I'm just more baffled at how the hell Ukraine would have managed to fly into Russia (with two helicopters) bomb a facility and then fly back out.

Where is the air defence? Lol.

You forget Ukraine has the support of Nato as long as it doesn't involve their men.

Nato definitely testing Russian technology/ intelligence by giving certain information to the Ukrainians for these special attacks.

How wrong I was that Kyiv would eventually fall...

I can't blame you though. Two to three weeks ago it certainty was looking pretty bleak. I was thinking most nights when I went to bed that I'd wake up to news that Kyiv had fallen.

Certainty happy to be wrong here though.

I guess Sugar Daddy Xi didn’t come riding to the rescue in the way Putin would have liked.

Perfection :)

I am so happy that Ukraine manages to fight back and recoup the land. This is what I was hoping for from the very first day and it warms my heart so much. At the same time I feel some slight remorse for the dead russian soldiers, to be honest, because many of them didn't even know what they were doing in the first place. I don't hate the russians, but I hate the russian government.

Now here's something that I would like to get off my chest. My uncle watches russian TV and he believes all the propaganda. Lately he shared a video of some old dude who was stopped by the police and complained about being stopped. He wore a jacket with the russian and german flag on the back along with the phrase 'friends' and the letter z on the back. The police told him that he should remove it and stop showing this in public otherwse he would face further consequences. Now this man complains how - for no reason at all, supposedly - you're not allowed to show a simple random letter from the alphabet anymore without being labeled a criminal. My uncle believes shit like this. We had a familiy meeting lately and he tried to justify the attack and how this conflict started back in 2014 when the Crimea was having a true and fair poll on where it wanted to belong to. Now when I intervend that the Crimea was stolen and there never had been a fair election at all, the topic stopped and we both knew that we wouldn't advance in this topic either way. Meanwhile my brother responded to this video of this old man and told how some of my brothers' coworkers painted the letter z on their helmets and, surprise surprise, they all faced trouble from HR and were told to remove it immediately. And for good reason, because in this same logic, if you wear a swastika publically, you will face consequences as well. If you show the middle finger to a person, you will face consequences as well.  But but but, it's just a random letter. But but but, it's just a symbol. But but but, it's just a finger. No, it's not. It has a meaning behind it, and this meaning is very well known.

Point is, I don't know how to get him back anymore. I fear he is lost to Putins propaganda just like those russian people that can't believe their own relatives in the Ukraine anymore are lost.
