He also said he was pushing partners to get more directly involved, opens new tab in the war by helping to intercept Russian missiles over Ukraine and allowing Kyiv to use Western weapons against enemy military equipment amassing near the border.

An impassioned Zelenskiy, dressed in his familiar khaki T-shirt and trousers, said the situation on the battlefield was "one of the most difficult" he had known since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022.

He added, however, that the situation north of Kharkiv was now "under control".

"Every decision to which we, then later everyone together, comes to is late by around one year," said Zelenskiy.

"But it is what it is: one big step forward, but before that two steps back. So we need to change the paradigm a little bit."

Zelenskiy said he wanted his partners to be more directly involved in the war, but understood they were wary of antagonising Russia.

"It's a question of will," he said. "But everyone says a word that sounds the same in every language: everyone is scared of escalation. Everyone has gotten used to the fact that Ukrainians are dying – that's not escalation for people."

He proposed that the armed forces of neighbouring NATO countries could intercept incoming Russian missiles over Ukrainian territory to help Kyiv protect itself.

"Russians are using 300 planes on the territory of Ukraine. We need at least 120, 130 planes to resist in the sky," he said. Ukraine is waiting for the delivery of U.S.-designed F-16s which have yet to be used in anger.

The Ukrainian leader also said Kyiv was negotiating with international partners to use their weapons to strike Russian military hardware at the border and further inside Russian territory.

"So far, there is nothing positive," he said.

Zelenskiy reiterated that he had not broken agreements with allies not to use their weapons inside Russia.

"We can't put the whole volume of weapons at risk."

Ukraine welcomes Rheinmetall's new facility for production of Fuchs and KF41 Lynx armored vehicles. Rheinmetall is building a factory in ukraine which will provide a large number of jobs and help build up its defense industry. This sounds like a long-term development, which is great because it is getting them away from soviet IFV's in the future. We won't be able to just give away Bradley's forever, so this is a good move with lots of future benefits. The Lynx in particular is a good vehicle. The united states was wanting to use it as a base for its next IFV concept to be used after the bradley but i don't have a lot of info on that.

Iran had it so good before the Islamic revolution.  Women could wear skirts and you'd see feminist books in bookstores.  Western stuff was everywhere.  Now the country is stupid and evil, just another example of what happens when religion rules far too strongly.

"The EU expresses its sincere condolences for the death of President Raisi and Foreign Minister Abdollahian, as well as other members of their delegation and crew in a helicopter accident. Our thoughts go to the families."

Did the EU express any condolences for the murder of Alexi Navalny by Putin's regime?  And yes, Navalny was not a President, but he was a leader - and the voice of Russian democratic opposition to Vladimir Putin.

Slava Navalny.  And Fuck You Vladimir Putin. !!!

Nahh, won't come. Scholz is just too stubborn and just smiles questions about it away as if it was a video game.

US to supply Ukraine with weapons until Russia withdraws troops

"The United States will continue to supply Ukraine with weapons until Russia withdraws troops from its territory, according to the Deputy United States Permanent Representative to International Organizations Robert Wood.

According to Wood, the international community's participation in the Ukraine peace summit to be held in Switzerland is in line with the UN Security Council's goals of maintaining international peace and security.

He said, that until Russia stopped its attacks and withdrew its troops from Ukraine, the United States would provide Ukraine with everything necessary to defend its country."
