Russia paying mercenaries from Lybia and Syria to kill people in Ukraine with Russian weapons but we can't give Ukrainians tanks and other heavier weaponry to defend their own country on their own ground. Pathetic....

Putin does understand that he is a sociopath and we aren’t, and that we don’t want a nuclear war, whereas he has far fewer qualms about starting one. He’s also counting on the 600 million people of military age in China to ride to his rescue if NATO decides to step in.

It's only about tanks and other weaponry for Ukraine to defend themselves on their own damn ground. I really don't see how thousands of RPGs and Javelins as support are ok but some older Soviet tanks which as example Poland could probably provide aren't.

It's not about sending NATO troops to Ukraine nor about destroying anything from Russia outside of Ukraine.

Putin wouldn't start to throw nuclear bombs just because there are some tanks from Poland and a few other countries in the hand of Ukraine's military. What kind of argument would that even be? Invading a country from Russia and even another country (Belarus), sending mercenaries from different countries into another country with Russian weaponry but complaining about foreign tanks (but Javelins are ok?) used against Russian soldiers in Ukraine? LOL

He might be crazy but if he would be that crazy than he would have nuked Ukraine and other countries already.

He won't nuke anyone if he believes he can win the war and if he would use nukes if he believes he would lose the war than I doubt it matters what kind of weaponry he loses against.

I don't believe him. When has China ever properly de-escalated conflict? As in without fucking over other people?

Thats because you are going on emotion.  You should believe him because its bad for business which is what China is really concerned with more than anything else.  Understanding the self interest of different nations allows you to understand why they choose a path more than anything else.  Right now, none of this benefits China.  If anything China is more than willing to have Russia underneath their thumb so why even give them an advantage when they can just sit back, allow all the sanctions to hit Russia and Russia has no choice but to come to them totally on their terms.

Putin needs to die horrifically for what he's done.

You've got a real fixation on violence and retribution, man. One or two posts about it is one thing, but it's been incessant in this thread. It isn't healthy.

I'm just sick of that good for nothing bald terrorist wannabe macho man getting away with murder for the past decade, and every day it feels like he'll stay untouchable. Well I say we do something to fix that.

I get that, but constantly fantasizing about violent retribution and stewing in that toxicity isn't going to help you or anyone else. It's just toxic.

That makes it sound worse, because then China could immediately fall back on such a promise and give Russia new and better troops and hardware to kill us all with.

Naw, China is more concerned about being the economic dominate player in the world, obtaining control by war isn't really helping them.  Putin put Russia in this situation, China is going to win no matter how this plays out so doing nothing is pretty much par for them.

Then what CAN I do? -_-

About Putin? Not much beyond supporting the international movements against him and his regime. Evil men evade consequences for their crimes all the time and this one has more nukes than anyone, but that doesn't mean he's evading all of them. The best chance for him to face at least a little justice without ending the world is probably to pressure the Russian people into overthrowing him and ideally serving him up to international courts.

About Ukraine? All sorts of stuff. Donate your time, money, and other resources to helping them survive this onslaught. For something more direct, see if your area has any Ukrainian refugees you can volunteer and help out. If I had the space I'd personally be tempted to put up a refugee(s) in my place until they can get on their feet. Once I am in that position I may do the same for other people in need.

As the adage goes, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

I am so sick of that adage. It basically equates to me as "Shut up and take it.". .

That's almost the opposite of the serenity prayer. There are things you can do, it's up to you do identiy and do them. Twitter-like toxic posts aren't that. There's more than enough of those flying around.

I've donated money to the cause in Ukraine through UNICEF, probably about as much as I can do for now outside of just trying to manifest the war to be over through positive thought.

Today it's
+300 troops
+2 Planes
+2 Helicopters
+11 Tanks
+12 Artillery pieces
+21 Personnel Carriers
+31 Vehicles
+10 fuel tanks
+11 UAV
+2 special equipment

The key takeaways here:

  • both plane and helicopters are way below their daily average of 4 and 5 respectively with 2 each while UAV are way up their previous daily average of < 1 with 11. This could denote a possible shift from Russia to limit casualty and save pilots which Russia might grow scarce on.
  • +10 fuel tanks, the first update in this category for a while now (last time was somewhere in February).
