A good American wouldn't use that as reason to tell Ukraine to give up but to jump in and increase the own support at least until Europe is able to produce more o their own.
A bad American will use that to gift Russia a win which will not only give them parts of Ukraine and their raw materials but also a huge boost for their ego which obviously can't be good for their enemies.
That Russia's weapon stockpiles and especially their number of tanks are also on the ground is something he doesn't seem to care even though USA's still look pretty damn good so that there will never be a bigger chance to win against Russia as it is now. And if Ukraine would finally be allowed to shoot down Russia's air-force even above Russian ground, the situation would also get much worse for Russia from one to the next day.
But instead of that, they say how bad it is that so many Ukrainians die from all those bombings but they forbid to shoot down the planes where those bombs come from...because that would help a lot to safe many Ukrainian lives...

"He refuses to have Elections" - It's against their constitution to have elections during wartime + Incredibly fucking stupid. "Zelenskyy better move fast or he is not going to have a Country left" - Eat a bullet. Lol Zelensky is Rich enough to walk away and living in some other country a happy worry free life. Yet the man choses to remain and defend his country for zero care to his life. Balls of steal and shows he cares more about his people then the life he could have if he said fuck it.
But yes Trump with his fractured ego because he won't bend over to his bullying, results in childish spats from a man that is supposedly leading the greatest democratic country in the world lol.
We can all read between the lines, he just wants those rare minerals for personal gain. Probably want's to slip the profits with his best buddie musk and putin

The idea originally came from Zelenskyy because he knew the only thing Trump cares about was money but you might not be up to date, because Trump's counter offer was access to 50% of Ukraine's minerals but for reparations for America's current support up until now and no promise of future support, so it was basically a "Pay us back and maybe we'll support you" which was a horrific deal. The reparations America demanded of Ukraine were worse than those imposed on Germany after WW1 and yet Ukraine is the victim. Trump is a fucking idiot and it's clear he only cares about protecting his friend Putin now, he could have accepted access to Ukraine's minerals, continued to support them, booted Russia out of Ukraine and gained even more wealth because Russia currently sits on a lot of those resources too but instead he decided to give Russia a dozen wins and try to pillage Ukraine's corpse. Nobody is returning to Ukraine without proper security guarantees, which will slam their population and economy, then when America pillages the corpse of Ukraine, they won't have any wealth to rebuild, their army won't be able to restore itself, and when America has bled Ukraine dry, Russia will come in for round 3. That was basically Trump's offer. |
Don't forget 50% is somewhere between 5 trillion to 6 trillion as the estimate worth is 10-12trillion, a fare larger portion than the made up 580million number.
The other reality is that the equipment America is sending the US would have been decommissioned as they are replacing it with new equipment. That money isn't going to Ukraine, it's going to their local economy growing their military manufacturing creating local jobs.

One way or another, many EU countries will get under non-US nuclear umbrella.
I bet Russia will be "thrilled" at the idea of countries like Poland getting their own nukes...

The UK only has submarine delivery so I'm not sure how we can share with many countries, but I'd be in full support of nuclear security, the UK extending their nuclear umbrella to all countries in Europe/NATO. Perhaps the UK could enter into a sharing agreement with the Nordics? Maintaining our nukes is expensive, it would be nice and beneficial if we could share the costs.
France could change their laws and extend their nuclear security to the whole of Europe/NATO as well, including nuclear sharing with the willing (for example, Poland) though I do feel like at this stage, Poland needs nukes of their own, it would probably be too expensive for the Baltics but I imagine something like Poland/Czech Republic/Baltics entering a nuclear sharing agreement to share the costs too.
Over three years of war, Ukraine’s initial unity had started to wear thin, as old frictions and political spats reemerged. But after Trump’s false claims this week that Ukraine is led by a “dictator” who started the war with Russia, even some of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s harshest critics have rallied around him and feelings of unity have surged again.
“Yes, he’s not a perfect president, but he’s not a dictator,” said Kateryna Karaush, a 25-year-old tech worker from Kyiv who like many Ukrainians — and even some Republicans in Congress — is struggling to wrap her head around Trump’s embrace of Russia, which represents a major about-face in U.S. foreign policy. It feels like the whole world is against us,” Karaush said.
“We may have different opinions about Zelenskyy, but only Ukrainian citizens have the right to judge his support,” said Yaroslav Zhelezniak, a lawmaker from the opposition party Holos. “And to publicly criticize him too, because, in the end, he is our elected leader.”
“We have a president whom we support. During war, we are united,” said Larysa, a 52-year-old resident from the northeastern city of Kharkiv, who refused to give her last name due to security concerns.
Speaking from the front lines, some Ukrainian soldiers said they were not panicking yet, and not ready to give up the fight. “Even if we don’t get enough weapons or if funding is cut, that doesn’t change our duty to (fight),” said a Ukrainian officer who spoke on condition of anonymity in line with military rules. “No shells? We’ll take up rifles. No rifles? We’ll grab shovels.”
“Elections are not needed right now because they should only take place when we understand the framework of (a peace) agreement with Russia,” said Volodymyr Ariev, a lawmaker from the opposition European Solidarity party. “Holding elections now would only benefit the Kremlin, further dividing Ukrainians and installing a new president who could sign a deal favorable to Moscow.”
“Holding elections before a peace agreement with security guarantees is signed would be devastating for Ukraine,” said Valerii Pekar, a professor at Kyiv-Mohyla Business School. “The U.S. and Russia are now united in promoting the idea of ‘elections first, then peace’ — which is the quickest and cheapest way to bring Ukraine down.”
Ukrainians Rally Around Zelenskyy After Trump Seeks to Denigrate Him | AP News
Ukrainian opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko defended President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday after US President Donald Trump called him incompetent and a dictator, accusing him of refusing to hold elections. Tymoshenko took to social media to express her support for Zelenskyy and offer reasons why Ukraine should not hold elections during the war. “Elections during a war are impossible and immoral, because our military will not be able to participate in them. And without them, elections will never be legitimate,” she wrote.
Ukrainian Opposition Leader Backs Zelenskyy
The majority of Ukrainians appear to agree. Two of Zelenskyy’s main political rivals, Petro Poroshenko and Yulia Tymoshenko, have publicly rejected the idea of wartime elections as impractical and illegitimate. Ukraine’s vibrant civil society has also voiced its opposition to the return of elections before a peace agreement has been signed. Meanwhile, a new opinion poll conducted in February 2025 found that 63 percent of Ukrainians are against holding any national votes until the war with Russia is over.

Poroshenko offered no criticism of the failure to hold an election, saying it could not be done "while there is no peace".

Genuinely think Trump believes that the rest of the world worship him as much as a large portion of Americans do and thus he can say whatever he wants without realising or being capable of understanding that shit like this only unites the country he is attacking and thus backfires, Zelenskyy's approval rating will only increase thanks to Trump and like I said, if Zelenskyy goes it will likely be because they want someone even more aggressive in dealing with Russia, a military general like Zaluzhnyi.
Last edited by Ryuu96 - 18 hours agoHealey outlined that the proposed strategic partnership will build on the UK’s longstanding defence relationship with Norway, reinforcing armed forces cooperation, enhancing industrial ties, and improving capabilities in key areas such as critical undersea infrastructure protection. This agreement follows the signing of the landmark Trinity House Agreement with Germany last year, which aimed to deepen defence collaboration between the two nations.
“Kickstarting work on a deep, ambitious new defence agreement with Norway shows the UK promise to step up on European security in action,” said Healey. “Norway remains one of the UK’s most important allies. We will create a new era of defence partnership to bring us closer than ever before as we tackle increasing threats, strengthen NATO, and boost our security in the High North.”

Last edited by Ryuu96 - 16 hours agoDoes lifting sanction against Russia requires congress approval or Donald Dump can do it on it own?
I feel like this is the sole true pressure US can apply to Ukraine as cutting support can be mitigated and will be mitigated through Europe increasing there own support.
