Forums - General - The NFL thread .....

Well, I'm pissed about the Steelers' pick. We have immediate needs at OL and DL, and depoth problems at CB and WR. In the offseason, we signed a good backup RB. So we spend our first-rounder on - another RB. *clap, clap*

We could've traded down and probably gotten a good WR or D-lineman, but instead we're going to be carrying a lot of backs behind a crappy line.

Jonathon Stewart is going to be a good player, don't worry. He is big, strong, and fast. Being an Oregon fan I am kind of biased but it is still true. His back up got hurt, Dixon got hurt, and teams knew they could load up against him and he still did good. Not to mention he was able to run away from people in the Pac 10 and if you can run away from people there, you can play in the NFL.

How does everyone feel about their teams draft. I am so so because I would of liked more Defense for the Panthers. I will have to wait and see how the team does as a whole.

Hi, this is Vince with Shamwow.

I'm happy with the Giants' choices. I knew they were going to get shafted being last, so you can't expect huge shakeups. They've got Phillips to back-up Shockey in case of injury and they got a very solid back-up quarterback with Woodson.

The Cowboys did alright, all I heard on the Cowboys website and ESPN was that they were going to get a receiver and was suprised that they didn't. Overall good though, Jones to back up Barber, a corner, a back up to Whitten and then some players that might have been a draft the best player on the board things with another RB and CB and then a DE. Kind of hard to get wow players though in the 20's, so they did good with what they had.

I love what the Pats did. We needed Linebackers and Corners and thats what we got.

I bet you're happy that the Shockey-Saints deal didn't go through.  He is one of my favorite TE in the league.  I would of hated to have to beat him every year if he went to the Saints.

I'm very happy we kept him. He isn't always the most consistent, but really helped out the first half of the season last year. I see him possibly being too prone to injury in the future, so I'm happy they have a fresh face like Phillips to bring up in case Shockey doesn't work out this new year.

Quick question for everyone, since I see everyone has their eyes on the Cowboys being the team to beat this year. Any chance for the Giants to repeat? I don't necessarily mean go to the Super Bowl and win it, but do you think they can take the division this year from Dallas instead of a wildcard spot? Oh and just to get this out of the way, does anyone think that last minute fire in the ass was a one time thing or does anyone think the Giants are a new team now?

I was just wondering does SHockey still get a SB ring since he played couple games during the season?...Tiki must be crying because he retired a year early . As for the team to beat in the NFC I think its the giants they are after all the SB champs, cowboys ain't far off tho . I'm gonna say Redskins come out first in that divsion just a wild guess :)....tho the Giants did lose a couple players their defense pass rushing will keep them in no matter what. Regular season seem so far away damnit :( !I'm ready to see if Arod can help the packers make a run now !

The Giants aren't going to be the team to beat. They got a little bit lucky and very hot and managed to win. The Packers are going to fall back with Aaron Rogers because he will have to learn how to play a full 16 game season. No one is any good really in the West, and that just leaves Dallas. After reading through the articles on the Cowboys website I have come to realize just how good that draft may have been. I thought we could have used a receiver, but if Terry Glenn is healthy, he wouldn't have played. If Glenn isn't healthy they can go with two tight ends with that kid out of Texas A&M or put Felix Jones as a third wide receiver because he is too fast for a line backer to cover and most safeties. Could you imagine if a team decided to go with a dime package to try and cover Owens, Witten, Crayton, and Jones. Even Barber with average speed could run forever against that. If not they would have to cover either Witten or Crayton with a safety or linebacker and that would be trouble for any defense.

I have been wondering, anyone else think that Matt Ryan is going to be a bust in Atlanta? I think what happened to Joey Harrington will happen to Ryan. Joey Harrington went to Detroit where they were a bad team was expected to be great. But no one realized that they had no offensive line and no defense. The great wide receivers and running back that Harrington was supposed to have, have been busts. That one kid from Michigan St., Williams from SC, Jones from Va Tech (he was the running back). Ryan is going to Atlanta where they have one decent wide receiver, no tight end, a first year starting running back, a first year head coach, a bad defense.......I don't think it looks good for him. Maybe the GM in Atlanta is smart enough to protect Ryan but he is going to have to play behind that bad line eventually and a bad couple of years can ruin a QB mentally, just look at the beating that David Carr had to take in Houston.
