That seems like a soft NSW hardware figure for a 6.5M global title launch. I know OLED supply was tight in JP so I'm guessing that influenced the algo for other regions as well

While a lot of it is due to shortages it's still quite something to see the PS5 and Xbox Series selling basically the same after how gen 8 went. A ratio this close even if temporary is pretty unexpected and amazing for Microsoft and terrible for Sony. In particular being down over 20% in the 2nd year is really rough.
The Switch is up this week though not by a lot since big games will cause smaller boosts as time goes on and Nintendo is having supply trouble as well.
How come sony is only able to make 2m PS5 s this quarter when last year they were able to ship 3.3m? The shortage situation really must be getting worse for them. A blessing in disguise for Xbox if this keeps up for the rest of the year the Series X/S has a good chance at outselling the PS5.

If Sonys shipment forecast holds they're going to be down 39% you for this quarter.

Shortages have to be worse with Sony expecting to ship just 2M PS5s this quarter. It isn't a demand issue. I am sure Sony wants to ship more PS5s, but are frustrating they can't. |
Yeah I'm curious why they were able to ship so much more the same time last year. Maybe they had a lot of early orders being made before the PS5 launched.

Jeez that would be incredibly bad. Even if it ends up being not quite that bad and it's 25-30% instead that would still be so unfortunate for them. It'll rebound eventually but man they're losing out big time on the opportunity to build up a large lead before the Microsoft acquisitions start properly paying off.
PS5 worse week is Xbox best week, ns gotta out sell the ps2 at some point, im a sony nut and i cant even deny that.
Wonder what happens in the future. Will x finally outsell ps5 and what about switch shipments
Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also
