People say that Nintendo doesn't specifically care whether the Switch 1 beats the PS2, but considering how the final tally is clearly going to be very close, I'd honestly say that maybe they kind of do care. Could be good marketing for the Switch 2 that they could sell it as the successor to the best selling game system of all time (and that it is backwards compatible with said system).

Realistically, the Switch should reach 161m in order to settle this debate, so how hard could it be for them to produce 9m more within the next 3 years or so. Obviously, they are going to produce a lot of Switch 2s as well, but they did produce over 28m Switch 1s in the 2020/2021 initial Covid FY. They probably still sell less hardware than that combined between both Switch 1 & 2 for the next few years.

I wouldn't call it good but the nonsensical nature did make it kinda fun. The fun has run its course though so the last thing I'll say is next time you come at me try to put some more thought into it. I'd prefer there to be at least some sense to it than just disproving blatant falsehoods about me.

Not sure Nintendo care, they would rather sell more Switch 2'sand maximise profit and ensure their player base is locked in the next generation than worry about Switch 1s hitting an arbitrary number. There's much less future income for Nintendo pushing for an expanded Switch 1 base than putting resources into Switch 2. It's how business minds think, not in records but in quarterly and annual profits and for the years ahead.

So with that probably done and what happened early last year I really dunno why I seem to be a bit of a magnet for silly debates in this thread.

Maybe you make silly post ;)? I gotta admit it's funny seeing you try to dismiss legitimate questions your way as "nonsense" lol. So I'll ask again, why does it bother you that other individuals are still optimistic about Switch lifetime sales and/or Switch 2 vs. PS5 this year? Maybe this is why you attract silly debates? You make silly statements and then are silly enough to think you are too good to be asked. So this is why maybe you feel I view you as a Nintendo hater, maybe you should consider you kind of post like one. But I'm sure you will attempt to dismiss this as well and bendover backwards to dodge these questions as pure "nonsense".

I probably shouldn't keep going but I'm curious so what silly statements and what exactly is the basis for the bolded part? I've been positive about the Switch's sales countless times and literally told you earlier that I think the Switch beating the PS2 would be cool. And I already answered your question but to repeat myself I make fun of both overly optimistic and overly pessimistic predictions regardless of what it's about. You still keep ignoring the latter and only focus on the former when it's about Nintendo even though I already told you that I had made fun of pessimistic Switch predictions just this week.

I get impressed by how some people take these comments about future predictions for console sales so seriously. I think I'm more impressed by how they can remember things from months or even years ago. Just to expose the commenter as someone who did very bad prediction. Chill out, guys. A day has only 24 hours. Do you really want to spend your time making a fuss about mere speculations about something as trivial as video game?

 You have already explained that but that doesn't explain or have any relevance to my questions. You say you make fun of overly optimistic and overly pessimistic but what does that have to do with why you want people to STOP making the predictions? Why not just POKE fun at them after they are proven to be overly optimistic or pessimistic? Thats my point.

You don't know Switch 2 beating PS5 this year is overly optimistic/pessimistic because it might just go both ways especially with the tariff situation possibly raising PS5 price and Nintendo confirming the 15 million prediction isnt a ceiling.

Also for Switch lifetime, are the odds against it for crawling much higher, yes but then again Nintendo hasnt fully stopped it so who knows. Nintendo is known for late generation remodels.

This is why you come off a hater because really its the overly pessimistic/cliffers predictions you can confirm are wrong. Yet you seem to be defending the cliffers (that post you quoted was talking about cliffers, but in your defense I can understand why you said what you said). Right now is time to poke fun at them only. They are the ones that have resorted to if Switch fails to surpass PS2, this is their consolation prize for a reason.

This why I said you are running a victory lap but your victory lap seems premature and focused on the overly optimistic but the over optimistic haven't proven to be incorrect yet along with you were once one of them. They are lowering their predictions as time goes on just like you and me. So no I don't consider you a Nintendo hater but you make questionable post coming off as one sometimes.

I don't want to see unreasonable things but people can make any kind of predictions they want like how people can comment on them if they want. For the bolded since you once again are lumping me expecting the Switch to finish somewhere between 140m and 170m back in 2021 with a general expectation of it most likely finishing in the 150s with people thinking 170m was still a possibility as recently as this year I'm not gonna engage any more after this.

Last thing I'll say is you thinking I come across as a Nintendo hater sometimes is just proof of your major bias since I try to be objective and thus have made both positive and negative posts about Nintendo and the Switch depending on the circumstances but you only focus on the latter while ignoring the former. If you're just trolling then have fun being annoying I guess but if you're not then man you've got a problem.
