they almost took the cake... Legend of Arceus is the wrost, but not by a long shot, both are bad and a deception.

I'm not going to say too much because I'm the reviewer for the game, but I heavily disagree that Arceus is the worst. It is better than Sword and Shield in every conceivable way aside from the amount of Pokemon.

But stay tuned for my review! Lol

Idk, since I haven't played any Pokémon games before the Switch. That said Sword isn't anywhere near as bad as many people say. Despite that it's still the lowest rated new, non remake mainline Pokémon duo.

So if you can't compare Sword to previous games from your own experiences, how can you then declare an opinion that has no baseline? You even gave non-anecdotal, objective reasoning for why SS are the worst mainline games.

That's like saying Metal Gear Survive isn't that bad of a game, as long as you ignore Metal Gear Solid 1-5.

What?

Hum... I want to be fair, it's soon to hit the hammer and say Arceus < SW/SH ( but both still are bad, imho). I mean, imho, Arceus is a fugly game, like terrible work on animations, pop-in and ghrapics in general, but maybe they have "Spiced" battles a little. Strong/Agile, changes on stealth rock/ spikes/etc., New balance on moves, no held itens... After some testing on a good competitive community, read smogon, we will see If they made good call, or If they created broken a unbalanced things like the uncalled Dyna/Gigantamax... ( For real, why we can't Go back to Megas!?)

I wish success to you and your Review, for real, even if our opinions differ. I add that, although I initially have a negative view of the game, I understand that there is "magic" in small things like the simple fact of throwing a Pokeball and fighting alongside your pokemon, or aiming and throwing the pokeball to make a capture... my childhood self would freak out with this game, probably 10/10, but nowadays... I expected more from gamefreak, if at least the game was beautiful and passed the image of well finished! I mean, I prefer the more simple and beautiful look of past games (including pixel art), than this world of low resolution textures, pop-in, ugly models and poor animation that pass the image of "badly done".

So you mostly dislike Arceus because of how it looks, gotcha.

first: i made a edit on my text.

second: The look is a big part (again, the game is fugly, like realy ugly!), but not just how it looks, it's more in line of "how it feels".

I mean, they add new stuff to the game, mostly things related to "trainer interacting with the world and pokemons like never before seen in past games", but the way they made this new stuff, it doesn't look good to me, doesn't feel good.
I mean, like you need to dodge pokemons attacks and, some times, even throw "anesthetic" on a Pokemon before the fight... meh! I want to use my pokemon, don't want to make "clunky" little games of dodging and throwing things ( and damn, i like stuff like this, i love Dark souls!!!). Also, the world feels empity, like, there is alot of pokemon, but it feels like there's nothing to do ( except pratice stealth, "sneak attack" and capture pokemons, no fight needed)... in general, almost all the new stuff mostly feels "half-assed".
Perhaps i'm getting old for pokemon, or i maybe i put my expectation too high.

Hope i'm being clear here and that i'm not offending anyone here.

Y'all haven't played X/Y

Personally I actually really liked X/Y. I enjoyed X/Y 10 times more the SWord/shield or Sun/Moon. I think Sun and moon were worse then SS though. Both SS/SM were complete shit to me though.

Sword and Shield is actually one of my favorites. The single player campaign is the worst probably, but the quality of life changes to breeding, wild area, and such make it the easiest to get into the multiplayer. Was the first game since Black and White where I devoted any time to that, and I only did so in Black and White because I had no gaming systems available due to hurricane sandy.

Seriously, I don't know what you're saying.

I wouldn't call it the worst, but I would say it is pretty close to being the worst mainline game in my opinion. That being said, I still wouldn't considered it to be a terrible game anyways. None of the mainline games are terrible to me, but just that I like others a lot more and have issues with others.

It sounds like what you are looking for is called Pokémon Showdown.
