Forums - Sales - Switch Sales Top 100 Million - Global Hardware Dec 11 to 18

With Splatoon 2, Breath of the Wild sequel, Arceus, Kirby and Bayonetta 3 - combined with a few more titles yet to be revealed its not that Switch would fall below 22M next year, with the new packaging they've introduced for the Switch OLED, its likely they are saving at least an additional 20% of space which at a global level means that it increase supply chain capacity of 20% for hardware. So regardless of bottlenecks I think they will have a larger forecast hardware capacity for 2022 than 2021

Yep I can't wait to be in July 2017 to play Splatoon 2

I think the Switch 2 will release in the far future and it will effectively be the Switch 3 as the real Switch 2 will be labeled differently, Nintendo will declare it as the same generation as the current Switch models (and ad the sell numbers to the current Switch sell numbers in their reports) even though it is massively more powerful. It will play all existing Switch games but will have exclusives. They will advertise it heavily: "If you want it all - press the upgrade button!". After around 7 years of Switch existence, people will have no problem to accept that there's an upgraded Switch with exclusives.

Luckily after adjustments sales look a little better for every console. Still a bad Xmas for Sony and MS, but a little less bad.

That is an odd issue. That tool updates automatically, so no idea why it would be wrong. Odd the monthly and yearly are correct, but the weekly total is wrong.

It's probably a boundary value bug. (inclusive start or end date, or the boundary dates not properly set in the weekly tool)

I also believe this to be the future, and also Switch 3 will follow the same new no-gen smooth progression paradigm for Nintendo.

I just hope we track it separately, with all those exclusive games taking advantage of the power boost. We track GB and GBC together even though GBC had hundreds of games that GB couldn't play due to power.

And no, I don't think Dsi should have been separated from DS sales because it's exclusives we're pretty much all shovel ware that, in regards to power, could have been on the original DS.

Super Switch should be tracked separate from Switch 1 regardless of what Nintendo says. Just like Switch 3 in 2029.

We will probably just follow whatever Nintendo does. Like how we have GB and GBC combined.

Nintendo separates the numbers for the Hybrid Switch and the Switch Lite in their reports (in addition to the total sales of all Switch models of course), so I think they would do the same for the "Super Switch".

They also separated all 6 3DS systems, so we know exactly how much each sold. From their last report though it seems they're combining the Switch OG with the OLED. Maybe they separate them in their next report?

At any rate, 100m is a well deserved milestone for an amazing system that's frankly on track to be perhaps the best of all time in my book, and this comes from someone who never thought they'd see the SNES topped.
