If PS4 has gained 1.2 million in the last year and needs 3.2 million to overtake, I'd say DS will likely keep it's lead since PS4 sales will taper off now it's been replaced. It will get admirably close though.

Didn't know the Switch's lead was purely down to Japan. At this rate, it'll peak lower than the Wii in NA and EU.

First off, welcome to VGChartz fellow human. Cool username. :)
Wii had absolutely massive peaks, but it was abandoned prematurely so its legs weren't the greatest. Switch should have more stamina, including in NA and EU.
trenchparticipant, I hope you enjoy the gap charts as we seek the answers to these questions. I’m keeping an eye on these things and a few other questions about the Switch that should mostly become clear once we get through the Christmas period.
Thanks for the welcome guys. Good point but given the supply of PS5 and XS improving, could it not eat into Switch sales?
Barring radical circumstances I find it hard to see Switch selling less than another 10.5 million in Europe by the time it's discontinued, so it should leg its way to victory here too.
