Next major title to launch in Japan is Konami's Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel which launches is 7 days time, it's another third party title that should launch with over 100K sales, overall we can expect the game to have high potential. I expect it to be the best selling game in the franchise in the past 20 years by ending up with over 410K lifetime sales. Beyond Yu-Gi-Oh we are heading into a slow period of the year until September with few releases, which means that it would be mainly evergreens seeing gains.

In terms of the games that launched in the summer Shin-chan got a restock so it's no longer sold out - should clear 200K by the end of the summer without problems. Monster Hunter Stories 2 on the other hand is basically sold out and Capcom haven't provided substantial restocks to retailers pushing the game up in the eShop. Skyward Sword & Game Builder Garage are the two new candidates from Nintendo to surpass 400K physical this year, while Miitopia & Baseball Spirits are heading for over 300K and Super Rush will end up with over 200K

Next week if Mario & Sonic at the Olympics charts again it will knock out Biomutant from the Top 30, it currently sits at 29K sales for the year.

According to Sony, Q1 2021 was 79% digital rate for full games on PS4/PS5, and now Q2 was 71% digital rate for full games. And perhaps due to the pandemic  imposed lockdowns, the digital rate has substantially increased since the PS5 released. We can assume as PS5 SW takes over PS4 SW, a higher proportion will be digital. PS5 may have higher than 80% digital rates.

Even so with 71%. That leaves 29%, or 6,566 PS5 owners would have to buy the same game. But that is not going to happen as the PS5's library does not have an extremely hard hitter to take the majority of sales and PS5 owners chose to buy a variety of other games.

You meant Top 50 there at the end, right?

And yeah, having the two last spots makes PS4's number of 5 games in the list a very fragile one. With Yu-Gi-Oh! and the aforementioned Mario & Sonic game they might lose both of those games in the top 50 chart next week.

Thanks for taking the reins on this thread this week. I'm in the hospital now with bad abdominal pains so I couldn't do it.

Man, my condolences and good vibes for you.

Chill on the hospital,  wishing you all the best, speedy recovery, go better and come back.

Japan? You know the Japanese market tends to physical released, right? Only exception was when the physical games sold out, likewise Monster Hunter, Animal Crossing, etc. The best digital sales on Japanese market physical/digital ratio are 70/30. The exceptions was the big games when the physical version was sold out.

The mitical digital Japanese ratio, with this hypothesis, the software sales are abysmally yet. The Ps5 performance is worst than 360.

Poor NEOTWEWY :/, but it's not surprising at all.

Next few months are going to be rough for the Switch.

Why?

If you think because of the OLED model coming in October and not many games until then, then keep in mind that the Switch is still selling over 60k per week. That will probably still drop a bit until the release, but not so much that one needs to worry about, and the release week of the OLED model should wipe out again most of those losses anyway.
