Forums - Sales Discussion - Global Hardware May 9-15 - Xbox Series X|S Sales Top 5 Million

Switch is actually up this week compared to 2020. Remember that the first half of the year was when 2020 Switch was selling it's best. Switch had a disappointing 2020 holiday. This year's holiday is going to be a lot better. Can't wait for E3 to see just how better this year's 2nd half is going to be.

Switch 2021 is looking to sell quite a bit better than 2020.

VG Chartz Top Hardware 19 Weeks

-NSW 2021 crosses 9M in W20 and on pace to cross 10M in W22 or 23.  Both will be the fastest results ever.

-NSW 2021 Q2 looks to land around 5.5-5.6M, likely #4 all time for that quarter

-Week 19 was NSW 2020's last monster overperforming week until Sep.  Field is now open for NSW 2021 to rebuild its lead, which has shrank to just under 300K.

-NSW Pro/Revision announcement imminent - strategy for its launch/release will give a better sense of how high this year can go.  IMO if they can supply in the mid-30M range, it can sell that much

-USA May 2021 seems to tracking to the 550-600K range

Did PS5 just release in the Middle East or an East Asian country or something?

Last 2-weeks Japan:
22,619
14,052

Last 2-weeks Asia:
38,650
74,874

Which means last 2-weeks of Asia not including Japan:
16,031
60,822

Thats a big jump.

Those Switch sales... will the Switch (if they can meet the demand) have the best year of any gaming hardware ever in 2021?

It launched to over 50k in China that week.

Ah, makes sense.
Thought it had already launched there tbh.

Switch will outsell X360 next week and very likely PS3, four weeks later.

The PlayStation 5 sold an estimated 223,822 units

I don't see that low number as realistic.

PS5 sold around >=180k previous weeks while holding back stock for the China launch (50k preorders). Now if we make the silly assumption that not a single PS5 was in a shop in China that week, that would mean PS5 sold 170k without China, while at thesame time no longer holding stock back for said country. Obviously there are a few 10k units unaccounted for..

I’m still thinking there will be some adjustments for the PS5. It did receive major batches 1-2 weeks ago (late April) in NA and the numbers for VGC remained almost flat. So until NPD and other sources reveal data this is the closest we get for Ps5 Numbers.

It sold less in Japan that week than the previous.
