Forums - Sony Discussion - Playstation IR 2021 info (women, UC4 PC, 48 mil ps+, PS5 profits???)

Darwinianevolution said:

How do they know that women account for 41% of PS4/ PS5 ownership? Do they count whoever bought the console, or who lives in the house the console's in? What do they do when the console's owned by a family?

I am guessing whoever is paying for stuff digitally.

Guess Mom's credit cards are counted?

Good growth on several areas... although I don`t like the increased investment on GAAS and are looking at their more PC releases to see if they will keep only putting gen old titles or will put current gen, if they do I`ll go PC only.

Well, they could be making some surveys... but more interesting is from where they took the PS1 data.

It's interesting that they label PS4's tail-end as the strongest ever. This means that although they are seeing worst post successor hardware sales than PS3 and PS2, everything else that is in place makes up for that unit deficit (higher price of HW, PS+ subscriptions, big games still selling strongly on PS4).

Sure, but what are they basing their results on? All of the other data seem easily followable but that.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I'm sure that digital is the one that's hurting them. I'm sure the majority of them are the disc version as to offest the loss of the digital.

Yea, there is no way the BR drive costs them $100 (or even close), so they are taking quite a loss there and will do so for the foreseeable future. That said game sales on the DE are also higher revenue/profit per unit for Sony.

I would say a very poor survey, like go to some stores and ask customers or see what they are buying and the like. Just like election pool survey.

And they sell much more Physical editions than digital.

Yep I'm hoping the PC trend continues. Could end up being my last Playstation console if so. I don't mind waiting a couple of years to play a game.

How are they being even so quick I wonder. Is it the volume at which they purchasing and or the combination of units and manufacture cost? Something must have happened to break even.

Couple vs 6 years is a big difference =p
