With 8 million PS5’s WW and a niche genre. How much sales some people expected for Returnal??

Launch seems to be alright, even if the game does LT 1-2 million units I reckon both Sony and Housemarque will be extremely happy.

About OP, I dont think they will, Rift Apart seems that it will do extremely high numbers.

For sure, I wasn't speaking across the board but for titles like Returnal which is obviously more niche and less high budget.

Expectations for the title are interesting, Openning was strong but the fall of seems necessarily steep in my opinion especially for a week of boosted PS5 hardware. One thing that may be telling of how performance is perceived internally is how quickly the software is discounted on PSN and whether it stays discounted for longer periods than other titles. Something I'll be keeping an eye on.

Well perhaps OP wasn`t very clear... because yes I can see Sony looking to not every game being 70 bucks... well we had that at launch already with Miles Morales.

They can do whatever they want. Ill just buy games when they are on sale.

Yep this. I dont buy games at full price so it wont affect me. And i dont see the need for them to lower prices.i think the price increase was well overdue and have no issues with it if it increases profit and reduces crunch (most likely wishful thinking on my part).

Price increase is about creating a habit. They want customers to understand this will be the new standard, if some games will suffer from this, so be it. Nintendo sell their games forever for 60 USD regardless of its sales, and there are tons of Nintendo games that would sell much better if they were price cut. Nintendo will not lower the prices because they want customers to understand if they want a Nintendo game they'd better open their wallets

If Sony is really serious about their new price tag, they will not lower it. A smaller game like Returnal flop can be acceptable if it means 10 million copies of GoW, TLOU, Spider Man, Horizon, etc, sold at 70 USD
