Forums - Gaming - What is your opinion on gaming subscription services?

My opinion is best summed up as:

Subscribed to at least one and like it 36 36.36%

Subscribed to at least one and not a fan 6 6.06%

Thinking about subscribing 6 6.06%

Was a subscriber and lapsed 4 4.04%

Will subscribe for big games and then drop 4 4.04%

Zero interest at all 28 28.28%

None of the current subs ... 8 8.08%

Other 7 7.07%

Total:99

I don't like or use them as I'm tired of my entire life becoming a membership and subscription service frenzy, but I have nothing against them being available and in use as long as there are alternatives that I prefer.

User said it was insane value based on 100+ (although I believe it's more like 400+ now) titles already in there and the upcoming XGS titles, although we can safely assume a lot of those upcoming titles are AAA, alongside the current lineup and now Microsoft acquiring 3rd party launches into Game Pass (Outriders, MLB, rumour that Battlefield 6 is next) in terms of pure monetary value, yeah, it could be insane value to that user.

I don't know how you can safely assume the insane value of 1st party titles, since what we got so far, and still have now, haven't much that much of value.

The greatest AAA title currently produced by XBS is Flight Simulator, and Xbox users are still waiting for a year to be ported to Xbox consoles.

So yeah, all Xbox Game Studios day one*

*except the really great ones that only run on high end pc that need porting job to do which can take a year

And I love how a merely okay-ish game such as Outriders become all of a sudden a great AAA value for Game Pass.

For many people, Outriders brings value, because it's a pretty popular game right now.

If Game Pass is insane value to that user then that is his opinion, don't know why you need to argue so hard against what someone considers value to him.

I don't "argue so hard", I am asking what are those Xbox 1st party games he's reffering to making the Game Pass a great deal, I'm interested in too, but besides The Medium, don't find any game so far

I’d argue Horizon 4, FM7, and Ori are better games than Flight Sim and those are all in GamePass. Also, thanks to xCloud, even the “high end PC only” games will be available on a toaster PC via browser or your smart phone ;)

Outriders is a good game. I’ve spent a ton of time with it. It’s currently one of the top selling games on PC, Xbox, and PS. It’s $60. That’s a good value.

Seems to me its more of a deal breaker to you the games that push the service forward wich will be the day and day first party exclusives. And the biggest problem there is MS's line up has been pretty weak and still seems weak going forward.

Now if MS are charging $120 a year for this sub and their contribution is so piss poor, the lowest grade and amount of first party content in gaming history, what kind of price would Nintendo or Sony need to charge? For a gamepass owners to break even all they need is to play more than 2 full price games a year. But thats easy for MS as they have years where the output is literally zero. all they would need to add is third party deals on old games or games like outriders that are not good. Now for Sony and Nintendo that do release on average like 4 or more Big budget games, that $120 would bankrupt them immediately. The price would need to be higher and suddenly the value offer would disappear.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

Thank you, your point makes total sense.

I think Ori's best platform is the Switch actually.

And I tried Forza and Doom Eternal on xCloud (cause, you know, I've actually suscribed to GP as well) with a Dualshock 4 controller, great, but playing on smartphone isn't as good as playing on the Switch.

It doesn't fit my gaming habits: I have a huge backlog and there's some games I play constantly (like Overwatch), I love RPGs but my limited playtime means I can play them for months. All that being said, I can see how it can be of tremendous value to someone who plays many games a month.

Signature goes here!

Ori and Doom.. best on Switch? Yikes. Oh well, we all have our opinions.
