Forums - Nintendo - What Wii peripheral/accessory is missing?

how about a charger to charge up the wiimote.

A new peripheral could be the wii shoe. It could be used in some sports games (soccer), shooter games, and possibly some adventure games. I know the wii balance board could also be used for this, but I think people would be more comfortable with their feet on the ground, instead of standing on top of a board.

- Wiimote II: a "better" Wiimote, more accurate and capable of 1-1 control - would be bundled with WiiSports II

That would be nice but the old controller would still have to forward compatible. I could see something like a more accurate controller released as a peripheral for a game. We have the Guitar Hero and Rock Band examples and Wii Fit. Paging Johnny Lee!

WiiBike: what about some of exercise bike - with leaning, controllable handle bars, etc. Another WiiFit type peripheral, also great for WaveRace, MotoGP, and motorsports games

Possible. Very possible. Yeah, this could be possible. Did Shiggy do a lot of bicycling when he was young?

- WiiChat: a "phone", with a number pad, etc. Specifically for VoIP applications, maybe with an optional headset so it can be used by games.

Nope. I don't even think they are going to fully implement this for their next console. If they do it's going to have all kinds of parental controls and only operable with a peripheral. By next gen I think it may be moot.

A lightsaber....

I have been thinking about this a lot recently.

It would have to be backwards compat, and possible for "future" games to support the Wiimote I as well.

That said - I think its quite possible. There is a LOT that could be done to the Wiimote to make it even better - rechargable, better speaker, wireless nunchuck, "condom" built-in, more accurate, better max-distance range, etc.

Biggest issue would just be marketing - having to "explain" to consumers WHY there is a need for a Wiimote II - and why the original was "broken".

Its pretty unlikely at this stage - more likely for the Wii II, launching with WiiSports II + Wiimote II.

...

One of the smartest things Ninty did with the Wii, is "split" the tech into two - the controller + console. They now have the option of upgrading either one, while keeping the other.

...

Very interested in seeing what MS come up with - just hope its original & clever, not just a rip-off :P

A lightsaber would only be for Star Wars game. A sword on the other hand would go great with a lot of games... Zelda, Red Steel 2...

I would LOVE to have a teddy bear with a Wii-Remote inside, so I could rock it.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
