Forums - Sales Discussion - Extra Easy Prediction: Animal Crossing: New Horizons will sell more physical units in Japan than the PS5

This makes a lot of sense. It'll be interesting to see it happen.

This prediction is so safe that Animal Crossing may have already been too high for the PS5 on the date that this thread was created. I.e. PS5 may never reach the 6.5m in Japan that Animal Crossing already has.

I think this would also be an easy prediction even if you just said that total Animal Crossing retail sales by end of 2021 will be higher than PS5 lifetime.

Animal Crossing will sell more physical units in 60 seconds than From Softwares Frame Gride will in a full year.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

The longer this "supply shortage" goes on, the more likely it is that there simply isn't a demand for PS5 in Japan. I think it's already bombed, and I don't see how it's going to recover.

Dragon Quest 12 will be native Nintendo. While FF16 is going to be native PS5, I don't think FF17 will be. Wouldn't that be interesting? FF returning home, 10 installments after it left.

There is a third possibility, and that is that Sony moves to an ARM SoC for a much smaller console in the future, possibly a hybrid or a dual form factor.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

You think next monster hunter game can do the same?  I'm thinking least 6 to 7 million.

Easiest prediction ever since PS5 is already dead in the water.

You aren't kidding about the "extra easy" part.

Of course Animal Crossing will sell more. Traditional home consoles are irrelevant in Japan.

There has been many Nintendo franchises that are breaking records in Japan. I wouldnt be surprised if MH is the next one
