The longer this "supply shortage" goes on, the more likely it is that there simply isn't a demand for PS5 in Japan. I think it's already bombed, and I don't see how it's going to recover.
Dragon Quest 12 will be native Nintendo. While FF16 is going to be native PS5, I don't think FF17 will be. Wouldn't that be interesting? FF returning home, 10 installments after it left.
There is a third possibility, and that is that Sony moves to an ARM SoC for a much smaller console in the future, possibly a hybrid or a dual form factor.
