Forums - Gaming Discussion - Shinji Mikami- RE3 quality a bit lacking, Code Veronica should have been numbered

I agree that Code Veronica is better than RE3 and it's kind of forgotten about most of the time. Like the fact that the rumors are saying RE4 is the next remake Capcom will release, skipping over Code Veronica. I'm guessing the politics business is because CV was originally released for the Dreamcast.

I think we all knew (especially after you played it) that Code Veronica felt more than just a spin-off. So hearing that it was suppose to be a numbered game should be no surprised.

For me RE3 was my favorite after RE1, but Code Veronica deserved to be numbered while RE4 to 6 shouldn't exist.

Same for me, nothing wrong with the quality as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, RE4 and 5 are possibly even better than the whole franchise in PS1 in quality and gameplay. But for me they aren't resident evil, they are on a different genre and would be much better imho if called different and had different cast. RE6 is a turd though, but I'm thankful for it because it made RE7 possible, which for me is the best RE because it made the original game on a current technology and perspective (RE2 became great as well, even though I didn't like it originally).

If memory serves, Code Veronica was supposed to be RE3, but because capcom had a contract with sony to release 3 numbered RE games on the PS1, RE3, which was the spinoff, not code veronica, got a name change, and then what was supposed to be RE3 got renamed to code veronica.  Capcom didn't want to title it RE4, because the two games were coming out too close to one another.

RE3 is better than Code Veronica, CV is sadly the weakest of the main line games and it shows in how horribly it has aged when you play it. It was style over substance meanwhile RE3 became the most replayable RE game until REmake and ironically REmake 3. CV has design flaws that are quite significant.

It's a real shame that Capcom still treats Code Veronica like the red headed stepchild of the RE family after all these years. If the rumors are to be believed, they are skipping a much needed Code Veronica remake and going straight to RE4 remake next. Screw you Capcom.

I rather have 3 remasters for Code Veronica than RE 4 once =p

Then would this be Capcom's own silly fault since they knew way ahead that they have to make a RE1-3 for PS1 to begin with?
