Try walking with the dog ( this works great, but you need to be as strong as the dog... belive me, you don't want to fall and be pulled by the dog), playing catch ( don't try to take the "toy" by force, let he drop the toy than throw it), demonstrate that you have the "food" you feed him and give him "extras" when the dog do what you want ( this is a great 1° step), sit next to the dog ( only if the dog is docile, don't force thig, the dog needs to relax).
